Even at 9-3 LSU might land in the Peach Bowl. Georgia to the Sugar after it gets thumped by Bama.

Alabama, Clem, ND, and for four it’s either OK or Georgia, and with the sec championship, it’s gonna be OK, unless Georgia upsets, then I say both Bama and Georgia make it, the Ohio st game could’ve been 100-0 idc they still won’t make it sorry

LSU should get jumped by the Florida team that beat them but I'm sure they won't because... who knows.

This could all be solved by putting in 24-0 UCF over the one loss teams. Who cares if it’s them or OSU/OU getting their dicks knocked in the dirt by Bama? All three of those teams are probably gonna get murdered. At least give the little guys a shot.

As as it stands right now, the College Football Playoff is the least compelling, most uninteresting “playoff” format in any sport.

Little guy might be defeated as starting QB nearly lost his leg on Friday j

The playoffs is compelling. Did you hate the Georgia/Oklahoma Rose Bowl semifinal? Or the Alabama/Georgia title game?  Don't think so.

Stop being a Michigan Stan.

Who one loses to means more than to when.

Michigan got their a$$ beat when tOSU kept sending three guys deep on every play. Stop talking about injuries because shouldn't Harbaugh gotten depth? Instead, he spent the night with a kicker he's now benched.

Oklahoma should be #4 due to Kyler Murray and Army looks like a ranked team now.

Army.

When did I say anything about injuries man? On Wednesday I lost my mom to cancer and honestly this Michigan vs Ohio State game has never meant less for me because of what I’m going through right now. I’m just saying it how I see it.

Alabama would probably run it up on UCF 72-10 just to prove a point.

I didn’t even watch the first game because I knew Georgia was going to win. The Bama-Georgia game was good but still as apathy inducing as possible because it was the only worthwhile conference going for a title.

Every non SEC team is mearly a cog to another Bama title. Why not let someone else get a chance to get their asses kicked?

There is a way UCF can get in... They need to take care of business against Memphis first. But, they need wins by Alabama and possibly Texas and Northwestern to possibly get in at #4.

Should UCF lose... well, it all goes 'Kaboom!'. They'll still get the Group of 5 bid because they're way ahead of the next highest ranked Group of 5 team, which is Boise State

I don't know why so many are saying that having 8 (or 16) out of 130 teams qualify for the CFP would render the regular season meaningless...

Same reason they said the regular season would be worthless if we went from two to four, which is that they’re dumb.

Well, they're not wrong. Ohio State losing to Purdue, Oklahoma losing to Texas, and Georgia losing to LSU -- none of those games matter if they go to eight teams.  I like the fact that every regular season game matters. The question for me is if it's worth replacing that with games that are, based on the semi-finals so far, likely to be lopsided (6 out of 8 games).

Unrelated, but at some point in yesterday's game, Florida DB Chancey Gardner-Johnson, realizing he had nobody to defend on a play, motioned to the FSU sideline that they only had ten men on the field (a Seminoles player then runs onto the field). I love the Willie Taggart era at Florida State!

Of the 16 teams that have qualified for the playoff, only 3 have been undefeated. Despite having a field of 4 teams, we're already at a point where every regular season game does not matter. Teams are constantly forgiven for having a single loss. Last year, a 2-loss Auburn was going to be let in if they had won the SEC.

I've always thought that the number of playoff teams should be dynamic each year and not determined until the conclusion of the regular season. The purpose of the tournament should be to resolve the question of which team was the best in a given season, not simply to reward every school that fielded a good team. Right now, it would seem that only Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame have claim to #1. A fourth team will be selected from a field of teams that are clearly not "the best" out of necessity because the playoff structure is fixed and we'll need someone for the #1 seed to play in a semifinal. Yet every year, it seems that most of the discussion is fixated on who is selected for the lowest seed and which teams are the first left out. Should that be the point of the playoff?

Correct me if I'm wrong but 50% of the time that last team in has won the whole thing.

The regular season games do matter, though.  We may debate who's loss is worse but that is still those games mattering.

Because we have groups who feel the bowls, those not included in the playoff, are sacred and should be treated as such. If we let 8 teams compete for the title, who will play in Boise, Idaho in late December? And don't forget not being able to play on a cricket field!

I actually hope UCF doesn’t get in now that Milton is gone. He’s the heart and soul of that team. If they get in and then lose 63-17 or something like that to Alabama because they’re not 100%, that will be it for the already-slim chances of a G5 team ever making it in in the current format. People will always say “well UCF was let in and then got put in their place by Alabama, so therefore the exact same thing would happen to [insert team here]. Of course, they would get beaten back to 2015 even if they had Milton. No one even comes close to Alabama this year.

The committee will keep them out, specifically because he's out. And they're not of moving up past 7 in the coaches poll no matter how big they win in the AAC Championship.
