What are people of color?

I have a color.  My skin isn't transparent.

The difference is that when “gay” was a thing (at least in my world), it was said in real conversations, and not posted on the internet for anyone to see, without context or tone. It’s easy for me to write off some things (not saying this one specifically, as I haven’t really read the old tweets), but for anyone that didn’t grow up in that era, it’s a little different, and the time stamp on the tweets doesn’t really matter if you’re reading them today, and are offended.

If it were still a thing, I’d probably be pretty worried about someone digging up my old Myspace profile for fear of what dumb things I may or may not have put there. Not saying I was overtly racist/homophobic, but I’m sure there was some questionable language I wouldn’t be terribly proud of having to explain publicly.

Also, along those same lines, these types of issues have to be taken on a case by case basis. I fell a lot more uncomfortable with people like Josh Hader posting things like “Gay people make me sick” when he was 17 than I do a 14 year old Kyler Murray tweeting “Y’all are queers lol” to his buddies. I’m not saying Hader can’t be redeemed and genuinely learn from his past mistakes, but that one has a much more obvious maliciousness to it than the other.

First bowl game of the year and someone needs to tell the guys at CBS SN that it's Louisiana-Lafayette and not Lafayette on the down and yardage thingy.

They want to be known as just Louisiana. CBSSN does Patriot League hoops, so someone pulled up the graphic they're used to.

I remember whichever ESPN broadcasting their game at Arkansas State back in 2013 had Lafayette for their down and distance marker as well.

I was originally annoyed by them trying to shoehorn themselves into the Louisiana name, but since ULM gave up that fight I figure I may as well go with it. It also pisses off La Tech fans, which is a nice bonus.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that Louisiana state law says that there can't be a university that is just the University of Louisiana. They have to have a geographical indicator.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

They've been asking that for years. People did that about 6-7 years ago as well, whenever they did their last big rebrand. To me it's about the same as REDBLACKS for Ottawa.

See, I think that's kind of dumb. It feels shoehorned and, to be honestly fair, it's not the actual name of the college.

Yup.  You can thank Louisiana State pulling strings in the state legislature for that back in the 80s.  God forbid the flagship campus of the University of Louisiana system come close to matching them in prestige and awareness.<_<

Insert your own joke...

https://www.10tv.com/article/next-chapter-urban-meyer-teach-character-leadership-course-ohio-state

Quote

Urban Meyer says he plans to stay connected to the Ohio State University after coaching the Buckeyes for the final time in the Rose Bowl on Jan 1.

In a one-on-one interview with 10TV's Dom Tiberi, Meyer said he will be co-teaching a character and leadership course at Fisher College of Business at Ohio State.

Meyer also said he plans to work with Athletic Director Gene Smith in some capacity after his OSU coaching duties conclude. He plans to still be a part of the football program but says the role hasn't been defined yet.

He'll have an office somewhere in the sports facility somewhere, just like Woody. Making mistakes are part of leadership. Some of his were epic though.

Army 70, Houston 14

Man, when you let a bunch of cadets loose in a stadium full of Cougars, they sure do score a lot.

The score was a surprise, but Houston was last in the nation in time of possession and at their average today (25 minutes) going 3-12 on 3rd Downs.

Applewhite is now 19-13 in three seasons and the school president has said, “The winning is defined at University of Houston as 10 and 2. We’ll fire coaches at 8 and 4.”

Good luck finding a replacement if 8 wins isn't a good year. Kendall Briles is apparently taking another job already. That offense looked . . . well it looked like something.

Yes, Briles is on his way to Tallahassee.

The chancellor wasn't the only person publicly commenting that 8 wins isn't good enough. Board of Regents Chair, billionaire and major benefactor, Tilman Fertitta said it too in 2016.

The First responders bowl is a salute to those who race to chaos when others race away. But not today, as after almost ten minutes, it got cancelled due to lightning.

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Sounds like something from a Rocky & Bullwinkle story arc.

Has there been other bowl games ever cancelled by the weather?
