Looks like Germany vs Brazil in the Round of 16 unless Mexico goes full Italy 2010 on this. Very disappointing play by Germany, especially in the midfield. Leaving Leroy Sane at home looks even more idiotic now. Germany lack pace on the wings. Might wanna have a guy who hit double figures in goals & assists than a guy who has been sitting on PSG’s bench.

I absolutely hate that guy. Can’t wait till someone plays just mediocre enough to top him as “best ever US soccer player”. Also, as an American, you just can’t root for El Tri if you ever want The US to not be embarrassing in soccer. I’ll take literally ANYONE over Mexico. Rockstar Matt
Pulisic is already better than Donovan ever was. And he’s not even old enough to buy a beer. So we don’t have to wait long. Crabcake
Brazil continues the “powerhouses not playing well in match #1” trend, draws with Switzerland. Brazil, Argentina, and Spain have all drawn in their first match. Germany lost.

Digby
I don’t think Americans are obligated to root for or against Mexico. Do whatever you want. BUT Landon getting money for this campaign while ALSO claiming #resist points is so pathetic. Would love for him to finally go away already. I saw something on Stars & Stripes FC that was talking about this because Alexi is backing Mexico despite some comments he made during the Copa America & when Donovan came into it. Basically if he wasn't cashing in on it there probably wouldn't be a ton of backlash on him (there was an NBC Sports interview mentioned in the article), but considering who he's partnering with in these ads is also in poor taste too. Right; I think supporting CONCACAF and hating your rival (on the field anyway) are both perfectly fine. But don’t piss and moan about building bridges not walls if you’re getting paid by the bridge builder; In this current political climate it seems in particularly poor taste. DS729
Alexi Lalas is insufferable. These other FOX guys aren’t great but this dude sounds like the most arrogant moron.
DG_ThenNowForever
I was initially unsure about the time zone difference for this World Cup, but catching a game before going to work (west coast) is pretty great. This Sweden/Korea game would be more exciting with Zlatan. Though I think "____ would be more exciting with Zlatan" is a truism. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

Zlatan plays for the soccer team I probably hate the most in the world, and I still can’t do anything but root for him. He’s a gift to humanity. DG_ThenNowForever
Who's the woman doing commentary on this England/Tunisia match? She sounds like she's never spoken in complete sentences before. Also, why isn't England better? EDIT: They just said on TV -- it's Aly Wagner. I'm happy she's getting a shot, but she's not good. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
WideRight
I am watching on Telemundo instead (Yeah for being bilingual) because the Fox commentators are not always the best. They have 1 good team, 1 adequate team (Meola) and that weird team of 2 Spanish speakers who are so partisan that it is painful to watch them cover a game that has any Latin country in it because they are rooting, not discussing. Even on Telemundo, the commentary is more balanced. And as to the big question, following England means never having to wonder why they aren't better. They just never are. Great league, horrible national team. BTW, I am not rooting for Mexico. I liked that Germany lost, but it would have been the same had they lost to Sweden or Korea for me. Since the USA is not in it I am rooting for La Furia Roja. ¡España!
