I think that is true in the host city every year, but outside the host city how many fans are buy the ASG specific gear for their team every year?

I'm going to buy the pirates one this year, because i like how it looks.

I also own a 2016 AL jersey, because i bought it at Burlington.

I got a 2014 all star hat for the Red Sox, but because it was in team colors and didn't have the ASG patch; maybe because it was the snapback version. That, I think, is the clever thing; when the merchandisers can come up with a new design but one that works in individual team colors. The pinwheels are close, but the ASG patch and the horrible eyelets make them too specific again.

Why anyone who's not a Padres fan would buy a jersey that makes their team look like the 70s Padres, I can't say. Actually the Blue Jays cap with the US Capitol on the side might be my new favorite.

The Blue Jays hat bugs me. They have a secondary and tertiary color so why is their pinwheel gray?

I was thinking about this too, but realizing that the Jays would be part of the away team, using gray might actually help them match the uniform a little better.

I love my 2014 Rays ASG cap. It looks like an updated version of their fauxback uniform caps. I still wear it all the time. This year's pinwheel caps are the best ones since then, but lately, I don't think they've been selling them without the ASG patch, so unless I find one without it, I won't be buying one.

They sold the 2014 ASG caps with or without the patches and stars (I still find that one-year option to be pretty odd). I picked up a Giants one (59Fifty, not a SnapBack) because it was awesome. I probably wouldn’t have purchased it if it had the patches and stars. Unless I’m mistaken, they stopped doing that after 2014.

I believe the NL will be the road team this year since they were the home team in Miami last year.

I don't know...MLB will want the AL to be the home team next year since the game is in Cleveland so I think the NL will be the home team this year. Also, the post had the NL in the home and the AL in the away uniform(don't know if that's significant or not?.

Hmmm yeah and the Dodgers have it in 2020, so you're probably right.  Especially since the game doesn't count toward home field in the World Series any more, 2 games in a row with NL at home wouldn't hurt anyone

It looks like it’ll be the AL as the home team for some stupid reason. As you said it wouldn’t hurt considering where the games will be played the next two years but this is MLB we’re talking about... Here’s the link to the MLB.com schedule

I barely understood rotating home team when World Series home-field advantage was being awarded to the winning league. With that (rightfully) a thing of the past, it makes no sense to make the AL the home team in an NL park, and vice versa. It's a freaking exhibition game.

Hey, MLB, instead of worrying about stupid crap like this, why don't you focus your energy on things that matter, like allowing customers to stream your games without in-market blackouts.

Love the game of baseball, can't stand the organization that runs the product.

Found this pic online.

A pinwheel hat for the Nats on a full time basis wouldn't be a bad idea. Not that they need another alternate hat...

Major League Baseball told me the National League would be wearing the white uniforms this year

The over merchandising of the All-Star Game just comes off as trying too hard. It really is a one city/team event (the host team). I ask the purveyors of this board, does anyone buy ASG merchandise and why do you?

I don't buy it every year (last purchaced Dodgers 2016); I only buy it if I like how it looks. I'm inclined to purchase this years ASG cap.

The best ASG caps, IMO, were the player signature caps. Team oriented and the personal touch of each player, with his number and signature.

Sadly ruined in context; still can't believe the most TATC of All Star uniforms coincided with the year they put the thing at Fenway.
