CCSLC Board Technical Issues

Recommended Posts

Yeah this is REALLY bad. It's every single thread. I can’t go into a single thread (including this one, SEVEN times before I was able to actually finish this post) without this happening. It’s killing the boards, and makes me feel like this may be the thing that legit kills this whole thing for me.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a setting that allows a user to "auto-follow" every newly-posted thread in a forum.  This would prevent the need to hit "follow" on every single new thread.

By the way, on the reigning topic of ads: I can say that I am still not experiencing anything like the problem that other people describe.  I use Chrome both on a PC and on an Android phone; and I just see small ads at the bottom that I can X out (or just ignore).

At this point, I'd say it's you more than the boards. I'm not having anything LIKE this issue, and it appears no one else is (unless everyone has decided to not post about it).

It's where I sit.

Well, that’s what I was thinking initially. But I added a content blocker to my phone and it’s STILL happening (albeit at a lesser frequency). And this is the only site I’m having this particular issue with.

My PC is fine thanks to AdBlocker.  I still unfortunately run into the bad ad issue on my iPhone 7, which has no content blocker installed.

I have no re-directs on my laptop or PC, and have no adblockers installed. It's been a while since I've gotten a re-direct on my phone - again with no adblocker.

Just seeing if different users/configurations helps any.

I got murdered by them today again on mobile.  "Congratulations Google User!"  I'm close to giving in and just clicking through to claim my prize, since once you get into a loop of those you can't really use the site for a while.  PC is fine, but I did have to turn on an ad blocker because it was essentially unviewable without.

Just put up a :censored:ing ad-free paid option already.  I go on dozens of sites every day - at least 5 of them are other Invision or phpBB boards - and this is the only one I have any issues with.  The experience isn't even comparable.

In the defense of the board, not everyone has this problem, and certainly not to the extent you have described.  I get it -- I have had a periodic problem, but again, not like you have described.

Just submitted my second Bad Ad report within about an hour this morning. Have submitted around 6-7 reports in total already. Site is approaching unusable on mobile for me, which btw is how I access the boards about 60-70% of the time.

Ditto.  It is really bad and has been for a couple weeks now. I submitted another bad ad report. But I’m not sure that it’s doing anything.  Site was unusable yesterday. All day.

At at least I got through this post today👍

Well I'm glad you haven't had it bad, but obviously I'm not alone.  I couldn't even reply to this post all day because this thread was infected (I'm on PC now so it's fine.)

Not sure if it's the ad company or the host or whatever, but it's really a shame that no admin (not mod) has acknowledged this and is at least looking into making some changes.

It's literally only this site that does this.  People can point fingers here and there, but the only common denominator is boards.sportslogos.net.  It's a shame to have been a contributor here for 15 years and have the site turn to :censored: like this.

"The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."

He talked to the ad company yesterday and they're claiming that due to the holidays they don't have the staff on hand to respond to the bad ad reports.

If things don't improve he'll be taking his business elsewhere.

That’s good to hear. Cause it’s been an issue for a solid amount of time now. Posted this comment on my third try after getting pop up ads the previous two times.

So, how about the suggestion of an auto-follow button, so that it wouldn't be necessary to follow every newly-posted thread.

Too messy.  We'd get even more complaints from people getting blasted with notifications.

Ah. Well, such a thing would be strictly opt-in, of course.

Im just going to throw it out there, but i frequent another forum for the South Florida Bulls, www.thebullspen.com, and they appear at glance to be using the same forum software as us here.  i dont know if the ad agency's are the same, but I dont seem to see as many ad popups on there.

Also note, occasionally I see questionable Ashley Madison ads on my PC at work on their network.  i know those ads are likely based on browsing history(which on a corporate network of over 3000 folks, theres probably some bad eggs looking at skeevy stuff).  Are these type of ads something that can be removed from the distribution list.
