I agree that the symbols of US freedom are often overemphasized vs. the freedoms they represent, but, in my opinion, the stars and stripes are an historical, efficient, and acceptable symbol for patriotism in the United States. It is bad that I am more offended by sports teams whitewashing their identities for these gimmick merch grabs? Matito Posted July 3, 2018 Share Posted July 3, 2018 This year's cap is closer to being okay, but it's still way overdone. I've long said that, if MLB insists on doing something patriotic to sell more caps, just do them in team colors like they'd wear every day, but with a flag pattern in the logo, and put the American flag in place of the New Era logo.
