FinsUp1214 Posted October 18, 2018 Share Posted October 18, 2018 When it comes to Rivers, I really think he’s gonna be a guy that may wait a little bit but will eventually make it on a later ballot. He’s a 7-time Pro Bowler (and was also an alternate an additional two times, but he declined them both for either injury or personal reasons, so it could’ve been 9), owns 14 major franchise passing records (ahead of, it should be noted, HOFer Dan Fouts - another career Charger), has passed for 50,000+ yards and 350+ TD’s, and despite never reaching the Super Bowl, helped lead the Chargers to 4 division titles. He’s also 4th all-time in consecutive starts by a QB and is the current active leader. It should also be noted that he’s having a great season so far right now, and could finish with the highest QBR of his career if he keeps up, so he’s still got it and may add some more to his resume when all’s said and done. He could even make another Pro Bowl. Again, I don’t think he gets in first ballot, but I do really believe he’s getting in at some point. He’s been consistent enough for long enough, and seven Pro Bowls plus two alternates tells me he’s played at a high level for long enough, too. And Eli? 6th all time in passing yards, 7th in touchdowns, and two Super Bowl MVP awards leading improbable title runs is really something. He’s thrown his share of interceptions, yeah, but hey, so did Dan Fouts and he turned out just fine. First ballot too, if I’m not mistaken. If not, second. Does Eli need to hang it up like, right now? Oh yeah. But I think he’s done enough up to now. I really think he’ll be fine. But hey, these are all just personal opinions.
