Still MIGHTY 3,834 Posted July 21, 2018 They tried to do too much. I’ll breakdown further when I get to a computer. But they tried to combine 25 years into one jersey, and man, it doesnt work. I’ll warm up to it, because I’m a sucker, but initial thoughts are too much at once.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's too busy, even as a fauxback. There's absolutely no reason why they couldn't have done a straight throwback like the Coyotes did.
Sodboy13 5,545 Posted July 21, 2018 I do like that they brought back the padded crest of the original. That's all I've got for positives so far.
Kevin W. 1,875 Posted July 21, 2018 I noticed that they didn't even use a made in Canada jersey for the reveal.
wildwing64 1,692 Posted July 21, 2018 Still kinda processing this thing. It's surreal that we're getting what is essentially a brand new Mighty Ducks jersey after all these years. It's not quite the hotchpotch I was dreading, so there's that. Gonna have to sleep on this.

After the orange third, this disappoints me greatly. Actually, it looks like the striping on the sleeves might be a callback to the Wild Wing. I didn't think it was possible for there to be a jersey with the duck mask that I didn't like, but they managed to do it. The yoke is completely pointless, and has no precedent in their uniform history (they could've at least made it match the yoke on their home & aways if they were trying to combine eras). They should've either gone with a straight throwback, brought back the previous orange third, or come up with a new Mighty Ducks design using the current colours. Sadly, nostalgia means that casual fans are going to eat this up, and the team will be patting themselves on the back. Most average fans probably don't even realize this isn't the original jersey.

That’s the biggest thing that bugs me when I’ve bought replicas off eBay, or even the ones they’ve officially released. The crest size differs, depending on company, and they mostly put out the flat ones. The padded crest is a great feature.

The yoke is an allusion to the 1998 alternates. It’s obviously not full arm stripes, but the idea is there.
Prince Harry 234 Posted July 21, 2018 Oddly enough, this is now probably the second best Ducks jersey in their history lol. Anyways, they should have used the current set’s numbers rather than the massive 2006 rebrand numbers if they wanted to combine eras. The black doesnt bother me as much, just kinda sucks the eggplant doesn’t show up that much in the stripes. Would look cooler if you had a brighter shade of eggplant standing out against the black. People are gonna scream Sharks but looking at it I see an altered Mighty Ducks jersey not a Sharks jersey. The Sharks have never worn a black jersey with that much teal on it.
Prince Harry 234 Posted July 21, 2018 Oh they used two different fonts for the back and TV numbers. Oof.

wildwing64 1,692 Posted July 21, 2018 Apparently this jersey will only be worn this season. I had a weird feeling that might be the case. EDIT: Orange third returning in 2019-20.
KittSmith_95 1,205 Posted July 21, 2018 It's both beautiful and a mess at the same time. The yokes aren't needed, the TV numbers look too big..... but oddly enough, I don't mind it being black.
