I never noticed how visually un-sound that primary was before. The bottom of the "V" is unaffected by the arch, but the bottom of the "U" is not?
Webfooter 950 Posted September 21, 2018 So UNLV no longer has any Rebel logo? Kinda boring to have only the wordmark for a logo.
Green27 187 Posted September 21, 2018 I get the new UNLV logo was controversial, but I actually liked it. Fairly certain it was SDS, right? I feel bad they scrapped it so early, can't imagine how much time and money both sides put into that.

They gave a teaser in February of their new EWC mark then last month showed off the new tiger logos. This set was created by Greg Hahn of Designs by Hahn. He is the same person who designed the new logos for Paine College, University of Montana Western, National Park College, and assisted with Oklahoma Wesleyan University & Columbia College of South Carolina. Edward Waters is a HBCU that competes in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference of the NAIA & plays football as an affiliate in the mega 21-team Mid-South Conference.OLDNEWNEW Football Helmet EWC also used a recolored version of Towson's tiger logo:

The head also fits with the rest of the body. So that's a big plus. The use of two oranges is odd, but still its a good look. It's odd that UNLV is going back to their old logo. The newer logo looked like a mess but it was still kind of an upgrade compared to what they went back to. Glad Houston is going back to the 2D plain. The 3D logo looked overdetailed and cluttered.
sc49erfan15 2,387 Posted October 3, 2018 This is for 2019-20, but LIU-Post and LIU-Brooklyn are combining their athletic programs. https://www.newsday.com/sports/college/liu-post-liu-brooklyn-1.21416636 Quote The combined teams will be known as Long Island University and will have a blue and gold color scheme. Students and alumni will help decide a new nickname, the school said. RIP Blackbirds.

That's a shame. I've always felt like there was a strong marketing/recruiting opportunity for the Blackbirds in dropping or de-emphasizing the LIU and positioning themselves as just Brooklyn.
slapshot 801 Posted October 4, 2018 With Merrimack and now LIU (Post) moving to the FCS Northeast Conference, the NE-10 is going to be the NE-8. There are not that many D-II programs in New England, not sure right now who will replace them for football.

They'll just be down to eight (LIU Post was an affiliate member) for football. The conference actually didn't replace UMass Lowell when it left in 2013.
slapshot 801 Posted October 5, 2018 But for football, only 8. And there were always rumors that St. Anselm would drop to D3 for lack of competitiveness. My college officiating organization covers both D2 and D3, and with 2 less D2 teams, that's more people fighting for assignments.
CaliforniaGlowin 2,194 Posted October 7, 2018 Cuyahoga CC will now be called the Triceratops. Definitely different, I dig it, hope the branding is good. Unusual color opportunities. http://www.tri-c.edu/news-and-events/news/tri-c-announces-triceratops-as-new-mascot.html

I like the name better than the Challengers. I couldn’t get the link to work, did they mention a color change? I believe they always used black and red for athletics.

Their Challengers logo has been red, white, & blue for some time but over the past year or 2 their uniforms have been teal & black which I believe are their institutional colors. It has been weird seeing the different colors so it makes sense they're actually making changes to their identity.
Earl 196 Posted October 8, 2018 Concordia University Chicago Cougars of Division III unveiled their new brand during Homecoming for the first time since 1983. New is the cougar logo and font. I take it uniforms will be updated next summer and will be slightly brighter, including for football. SourceOLDNEW Personally, not a fan at all. The old logo wasn't fantastic but it was unique enough that I always knew who it belonged to. Now it's seems too cartoonish and bland. Wordmark is decent.
