are the Jets still "Long Island's team"?

eh. the geographic breakdowns have really shifted a lot. fans move, of course the jets moved (from queens to new jersey)

The other thing that has eroded the Jets' hold on Long Island is the fact that they no longer train at Hofstra University, but now do so in New Jersey.

Still, while Giant fans outnumber Jet fans everywhere, the advantage is probably smallest on Long Island.

Not the first NFL team to be clearly, unequivocally named after a Broadway musical:

Please tell me that someone did a whole series of Concepts based off Pat Patriot and all the NFL teams.

and If so, PLEASE post link.

I've always been a much bigger fan of Pat the Center than Elvis.

Would love to see a roid rage Buffalo and a few other teams in this.

Seriously, I loved the OG Panthers script, and the fact that something so obviously a product of the '90s lasted into the 2010s.

I call it the “Beast Wars” script:

It’s so mid-‘90s, and a testament to how Jerry Richardson was steadfast against the team changing their look, no matter its problems (waiting for the Nike deal to change word marks and give the logo a much-needed overhaul).

Or, it was a tribute to how stinking awesome the Beast Wars font is.

Nah, you're right. But that doesn't mean that script isn't cool. The '90s kid in me will die on that hill.

Well, speaking of that 90's "rage" script, if we're gonna go there, let's go all the way there...

And oh yeah, THIS...

Teal, purple, black, rage font, the mullet--you couldn't get more '90s if you tried!*

*None of this has to do with the Jets though, I know.

I have to be honest I've never heard a fellow Jets fan mention feeling perturbed regarding too much militarism or patriotism in our uniforms and brand. Maybe over time as that once glamorous Jet Set age (and it also helped we had the ultimate QB to embody it) got further away from us they thought embracing imagery of the air force, fighter jets, the air raid siren, flight crew, etc would just seem cool. If they went got rid of this entirely with the new uni's I certainly would not shed a tear since I've never felt any sort of militaristic undertones when I think about the Jets, but that probably has to do with when I became a fan. it wouldn't shock me if it remained though since it could be that it's very well received by the majority of the fanbase. I don't really know I guess that's probably what they're discussing in the focus groups

It’s a “Jazz” Solo cup in jersey form.

Hate to continue this off topic discussion but I really want to point out that the ORIGINAL Panthers script wasn't what everyone is talking about. They had a different one for their first season in 1995 and then switched to the edgier font.

carolina_panthers_1995-w.png

It wasn't even used on the field as they played at Clemson's Death Valley and the endzone wordmark just said "PANTHERS" in generic block font.

Now back on topic, I have a bad feeling the Jets default home uniform next year is going to be mono green because they've worn the combo 4 times, one of them being the Color Rush.

Found this in a video on their Instagram yesterday, probably nothing but I wouldn't mind branding around a word mark similar to that. Looks like a modern-ish update to the 80s logo.

Until something huge actually happens, can we all stop reaching? It’s clear there won’t be any news till after the season ends. It’s time to stop.

Yep.

Now based on the above image I can say that Jets will certainly use some sort of green, and the logo will almost certainly contain the word “JETS” in some sort of font.

Give me my reddit upvotes plz

I don't think the Jets mono green is a terrible look, provided they are wearing the white socks with green stripes and not the solid green socks.

It wouldn't be football season if I didn't take this and every opportunity to mention that all non-white monochrome football uniforms are an abomination.

No exceptions.

I feel like ALL solid colored mono sets look like that. One colored leotard. White just always seems to work EXCEPT in cases where an otherwise awesome full white uni uses total white sanitaries instead of stripes or solid color for break-up. The Giants and Saints would have awesome "color rush" "Throwbacks" uniforms if they just added stripes or color block opposite of pant color.

But in the case of the Jets’ all-green uniform, the green covers roughly the same real estate as a basketball uniform, so it is an exception (provided they wear white socks).

Almost all mono looks are improved by contrasting socks. It's still not something I want to see every week but as a one or two off I'll allow it in those cases. The Panthers do it right all but that one time against Detroit a few weeks. But they're starting to beat that look into the ground now.

It makes me cringe when teams who have contrasting socks in their wardrobe (like the Bengals) refuse to wear them when they go mono.
