It went from a modern classic,

The Reebok set has its own stripe and sleeve issues.

oMagpvd.jpg6F65sli.jpgXawkaSH.jpg0jjeblP.jpgThe Jets should have stuck with starter but let Reebok and Nike put their marks on it a la Packers. The look gets ruined as soon as Reebok templates it. Another classic look butchered by modernity. I really wish there was a way to revive the look but there's no way Nike actually makes something that would work. It's better that we move on

Sorry to see it go again...but with the template change, it was time.

But I'm not worried...the best uniforms ALWAYS find their way back...someday, in the future, be it 5, 10, or 20 years from now, you WILL see the New York Jets adopt that look again.

The look is better than half the nfl, I don’t mind the change, it’s old and signifies a bad era of jets football. I guess. But I have high doubts it’ll be better than the ones they have now. The current uniform is a lot better than people give it credit for. Especially in a universe full of Bucs, Jags(old) and Browns.

I don’t know anyone who truly dislikes the Jets current look at its core. It’s a perfectly fine uniform, and is actually a really sharp look. Problem is, the weird shade of green and the absolutely jacked up template Nike uses for them has pretty much completely ruined it.

The Jets really don’t need a new look. All they really need is a cleanup of what they currently wear. At it’s best, it’s pretty iconic. In fact, when done right, it’s actually one of my favorite looks in the league.

I agree but think a refinement/cleanup of their helmet logo in addition to using kelly green is needed. It's simply too cluttered.

Did we get a date yet?

Have they officially announced a date or even a general timeframe? I always assumed it would be sometime in April around the draft but that may just be due to precedent rather than anything they actually said.

I could see them using this with two over sized green stripes and white face mask, however, they’ll go with a green helmet.

really dont care what the Jets do as long as they cease to look like something time forgot.  the current uniform is not timeless like the Packers or Raiders...it constantly declares 1960s and it just doesnt work anymore.  it disrupts the aesthetic of not just the NFL but of North American pro sports.  hanging onto it is spiteful and only reason they went back to it in 1st place was because of supreme douche Bill Parcells, something else they should want to distance themselves from. any and all folk who defend the uniform on any imaginary merit should just knock it off.  worst logo/uniform in modern NA pro sports (Clippers are a close second- and see what both have in common?  2nd fiddle in their own cities)

Oh man, hottest of hot takes, eh?

Sorry, man. Super Bowl III wasn’t rigged and the Jets’ uniforms were pretty cool until Reebok and Nike butchered them with their templates.

I'm not sure I agree with this take but I admire the intensity.

The Jets have looked bad since 98 when they changed their green to that drab, muted, dreary shade. It's the kind of colour pairing that just makes you let out a laborious heavy sigh every time you see it.

Whatever they do, I hope the colours change.

heard in two places (one of them being way earlier in this thread) that april 4 is the date. can't verify that those are independent sources, but that's the only specific a date that has been thrown out there.

i wouldn't be surprised if one gimmick the jets trot out is alternate facemasks (i know the rams have two different options they use regularly, but doubt that'll continue once they get their overhaul). the jets used four different colors last year: white on opening night, grey on 10/14, kelly green on 10/21, and forest green all the other games. wouldn't shock me to see them trot out three different facemask options.

The Jets, historically, have a great look. It simply doesn’t fit today’s football uniform templates. That’s not Nike or Reebok’s “fault,” but rather a result of the evolution of the game. It happens.

Um, yes?

I mean it’s a message board. So I think that post accomplished all I thought it would. So...yay I guess.

Adidas' version... any better?

The Adidas template is so garbage that I can barely tell what they’re trying to go for  with this take on the sleeves. Are the stripes supposed to be curved and tapered or is that just the fabric warping? How did they draw it up?

Sorry but I’d prefer the Nike template over almost any other. It looks much more intimidating and athletic than the old sleeve look. And while I’m at it. The striping pattern looked just fine and good on the current template
