jrodsep
Holy $h**!!!!!!! The US lost this afternoon to the Puertorican National team led by inspired play of Carlos Arroyo who played like a god among men. This is truly a sad day for USA basketball as their glory has faded. But, I must congratulate my home team of Puerto Rico for the inspired play. This is truly the GREATEST victory in international competition for us. USA lost 92 - 73. That's a 19 point loss boys and girls. Can u hear that "Dream" team? They're not saying Alou they're saying Booooo!!!!
CaolinaJoe
This is why the ERA of the Pro player has passed in the U.S. These millionaire primadonna's do not have the desire to win on this type of stage. While the college players may or may not win, atleast they still play for the love of the game and the desire to impress. If for no other reason the lure of the big bucks. These players have nothing to prove, unlike every other team they play. Not only do they have nothing to prove, they could care less. Any team that counts on AI to be a team captain is lost from the get go.Congratulations Puerto Rico.

Cyclopsis Joe
First, we haven't had a "dream team" since the 90s.Second, I agree with CarolinaJoe..any team who relies on Allen Iverson is doomed to fail.
Puckguy14
Forgive because we have brutal coverage (thanks Dick Ebersol and NBC Sports) but they said this is live. So it isn't live and its a final?
JQK
Who cares... the Olympics are goofy anyway. The pomp and circumstance is cool, but other than that, i'd rather watch paint dry...Good job by those Ricans on beating their mother country... Survival79
As Cyclopsis Joe said, this is no "Dream Team".What is most amusing about this is that Puerto Ricans hold US citizenship. In 1898, Puerto Rico was ceded to the US as a result of the Spanish-American War. Puerto Ricans were granted US citizenship in 1917.
Puckguy14
This is the basketball version of Miracle. And a note to the players who declined:"The name on the front is a hell of a lot of more important than the one on the back. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!"And people wonder why there is less interest in the NBA.
JQK
This is the basketball version of Miracle. Hardly. This USA basketball team is not NEARLY as dominant as the Soviets were in hockey in 1980.This is no upset. This is what everyone saw coming, feared would happened, and now has come to fruitition... I say, trade the American players for the Puerto Ricans so the US can have a shot at gold

Seriously now! Can we drop the 'Miracle on ice' thing being such a big upset!! The USA has a history in Ice Hockey, and whilst the Soviets were an awesome team, the US had home ice advantage. Yes it was a big upset, but no more so than the US basketball team lost to the USSR in 1972, or when Puerto ricao beat this US team.

If you give anyone three chances to make the shot, chances are they will get it eventually.THe '80 US vs Soviets was a huge upset, because the russians were the greatest in the world, they beat up the NHL all stars, they destroyed every competitor in their way, they destroyed the US in a friendly not too long before those Olympics. The fact that the US beat them, the unstoppable Russians, must be considered one of the greatest sporting upsets of all time.Wether you want to admit it or not, saints. -kj
This is not about hockey, it's about basketball. For players from countries other than the US, playing for one's country is seen as a great honour. For the US players, it seems to take a big back seat to their own personal glory.

Just trying to offer some impartial comments! The Miracle on Ice is over blown by Americans as a sports upset! big shock, certainly, the most amazing shock ever in the history of sports? Hardly! Anyways back to basketball! Surely the USA has enough pride to bounce back and win from here?
Ez Street
I think it goes to show you that the NBA players are less fundamental. They play like street ballers instead of setting up and taking good shots. Sloppy crap-ass basektball. That's why the NBA is #4 on my list of sports. Who knows if they'll make it to the Medal rounds...This will be our biggest embarrasment in Basketball ever....

Saintsfan
I think once the UISA take it seriously, which they might do now, they won't play like streetballers. Unless the squad just see it as pre season training, which if they do, I think shey should just go home now!
