Do you think he’ll get the Mike Mattheny treatment, where management keeps him on for far too long due to playoff appearances and regular season success? I would really hope not but Brian Cashman basically put his stamp on this team by hiring Boone for the role. He was willing to let go of a manager who had been very successful in his time with the organization (whose shelf life may or may not have run out) and hire someone with zero coaching experience to be the guy expected to lead thtem to the next step. I was always extremely skeptical of that decision, and anyone who has seen last night or tonight's game can see a recurring issue all season long that Boone has had - a massively slow response time for when a pitcher needs to be taken out, and also not then knowing who the best pitcher is to be brought in. He had five high-level relief pitchers in his 'pen last night and brought in Lance Lynn to face Betts with the bases loaded, down 3-0. He brought in one of those high-level relievers when it was 7-0...later in that very same inning. Baffling? Not sure how it couldn't be.
Dynasty
We might be getting either a Dodgers-Astros rematch or a Boston title. I don't think we'll get anything surprising this year.

Brass
EDIT: Wow! Despite his best efforts, Kimbrel didn't blow it. Meh series. Was hoping for more of a "showdown" between the two teams. At least that last inning made up for it. We're on to Houston. On 4/10/2017 at 3:05 PM, Rollins Man said: what the hell is ccslc?
FiddySicks
What an absolute snore fest of a series that was. I hope we’re not subjected to too many more of these Boston-New York wank fests. Boston is winning the World Series again this year and it’s not going to even be close. They outspent everyone else and it shows. Moneyball be damned to hell. IIRC, they had one of the most productive home-run hitting teams in history, and that's kind of the problem. It really showed the last couple of games where they could barely muster up singles. Compare that to the Red Sox, who pretty much just kept chaining together singles. Except for Houston last year, I can't really think of any team that rode home runs all the way to a championship. Unocal
Save for the NL WC game, Sunday night in Atlanta, and the 9th-10th innings of game 1 at Milwaukee... the boringest LDS ever. The playoffs just got a lot less interesting without the Yankees.

Unocal
Mookie Betts for once didn't choke in the playoffs. Good for him.

Unocal
This Red Sox has had a charmed season where it basically feels like they have a horseshoe and are catching damn near every break. I mean, for god's sake, Rick freaking Porcello- who has never won a big game- suddenly looks like an ace? This Sox would be third place in the AL West. Their 108 wins are mostly a product of beating up on garbage teams all year.

Their 108 wins are mostly a product of beating up on garbage teams all year. Rick Porcello won the Cy Young two years ago, the Sox have the third best record against teams above .500 this year and they just finished their 23rd game against a 100-win team. Their strength of schedule was weak, but the Astros only finished two spots higher than the Sox, and only two playoff teams finished in the top 15, both from the NL West. Their pythagorean win score prediction had them at 103 wins. This team is good, really really really good. I get that you hate Boston sports and no stat will change your clearly incorrect perception, but seriously. I can't wait until you label the them as an aberration for losing to the 103-win defending champs.
