To be fair they did get Shelby Miller from the Heyward trade who was then flipped after an all-star season for Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson.  Sean Newcomb is a solid return for Simmons.

The Kimbrel/Upton trade didn't amount to much though.

The Heyward trade wasn’t bad, but I thought they could have gotten more for him at the time.

In hindsight he was the one player out of that group who probably should have been cut loose regardless of what the club was planning to do.

The Miller trade I didn’t understand at the time from Arizona’s perspective and still don’t.

I even remember saying that I found his late season dip in 2015 concerning and he hasn’t been the same since.

The move not only helped cost Dave Stewart his job, but probably any future GM job as well.

Newcombe has shown signs of being a promising starter, but out of every Atlanta trade, letting Simmons go was probably the worst move.

Its not that Atlanta got nothing in return, but Simmons could be setting off on a Hall of Fame career track. To get return value on a player like that is damn near impossible.

Noah Syndergaard would have been a solid return for Simmons. That’s the level of pitcher Atlanta would have needed to get back just for the deal to be considered a wash.

Yeah guys, Kershaw being a choke artist in crunch time is just a really bad false narrative. Cross my heart.

Eh, bad showing for the Dodgers. Just accept the loss and try to even it tomorrow.

Frankly, Kershaw wasn't *terrible*, it was Grandal making some pretty bad mistakes. And it's clear the Dodgers rely too much on the home run. Just a matter of time before that runs out.

I can’t see this weird bullpenning strategy/praying that Hader is available lasting long enough to close out this series. But the Dodgers, Kershaw especially, looked visibly shook several times this game. That’s weird to see from a star player and team as dominant as they usually are.

Almost as significant as the Brewers winning Game One last night was that it was their 12th win in a row.

Local diner chain George Webb has a standing promotion going back to the 1940s that if the Brewers win 12 straight they give everyone in Milwaukee a free hamburger.  It’s only happened once in those 70 years, back in 1987 when the Brew Crew rattled off 13 to start the season.

Heady days, indeed.

How badly do you think FOX is going to cross their fingers for a Boston/LA WS?

Ballpark wise it’d be the most aesthetically pleasing series you could ask for nowadays, as I was reminded watching last nights Milwaukee dingy warehouse game.

Marlins Man is a douche.

Why? I’ve  seen quite a few people with this opinion but i never understand it. I’ve met him at several games over the past couple of years and he’s a very nice guy. The only explanation i’ve gotten in the past is that he goes to games and sits behind home plate. He’s rich and those are the best seats in the house, why not do it? That’s exactly what I would do if I had the money and time for it. I just don’t see why people have a dislike for him

He's a self-aggrandizing promoter which rubs a lot of people including myself the wrong way.

But aside from that, I really don't see any issue with the guy. He's done a lot of charity work, is careful who he associates with, and doesn't come off to me as anything more than a superfan with a ton of money and no real hobbies outside of going to sporting events. There are worse people you can meet in life. I don't have any objection to him.

Now if you want to talk trash about Zack Hample elbowing kids out of the way to satisfy his OCD tick to catch every foul/home run ball in existence, feel free to grab a seat next to me.
