The rest of the jerseys have trim...why on earth doesn't his one have it? Makes it look like a practice jersey. I’ve thought about this, and the only rationale I can come up with is that they want the jersey trim to match the pants trim and they weren’t going to create an alternate set of pants. I get it, but I also think some red trim would help a lot. Also: An ultra-traditional city name block font just doesn’t work for a colorful alternate. Say what you want about the Indians’ disappointing defeats in the navy jersey with the script red ‘Indians’, but that’s been their defining look for a generation that has included 3 pennants, 10 division titles and a wild card. Digby
I’m convinced the only reason they dumped the navy alt we were all used to was because then there would be a big show of an old uniform being stripped of the Wahoo face logo. One less uniform to awkwardly straddle eras in the photo archives. It might save that tiny bit of headacheness and social media panic for the current regime, though it’s also further evidence that they’ve botched this whole conversation from the start. As to the aesthetics of it — I get the sense that a minimal, trim-low look is the current modern fashion in MLB, for whatever reason. Wouldn’t read too much into it except that they decided that’s what new uniforms would do. i wish the red alts had a headspoon so they could remind the Red Sox what a red alternate should look like. And seeing as it would be an intentional throwback to a very old team name? Go all the way and design a alternate of a spider swinging a baseball bat ala the Beer Barrel Man or the Swinging Friar. Sort of “this is what they would have designed if the name had originally stuck around longer.” Spiders isn’t a dumb name, but there’s a lot of room to get unnecessarily ridiculous. No one needs dumb spider webs sublimated over the uniform or anything. Save that for TATC night If done right (HUGE if), this could actually work in a similar manner to how pinstripes work, I think. The_Admiral
It would look like psychedelic flannel. Psychedelic Flannel is also the name of my combined Pink Floyd/Pearl Jam cover band. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Take this hat, remove the UR, rotate the spider so it is facing straight up. Done. No block C within the spider. MJWalker45
As a Cleveland fan, I don't want the Spiders. I'd prefer to keep Indians with an appropriate, culturally sensitive logo or another nickname like Earls (Earl Averill), Rockets (Bob Feller) or Guardians that have been floated earlier. Or maybe even Buckeyes (Negro Leagues, Ohio State combo).

I'm okay with the occasional Buckeyes throwback as a nod to the Negro League team. But at this point Ohio State owns the Buckeyes name. It would not fly as a team name for any other team (big league or minor league) in Ohio.
