It doesn't matter how ugly or not ugly the purple jerseys are (that is an entirely separate issue and discussion). It is a matter of wearing the correct jerseys based on home and away designations. I don't think there was ever really a problem with following these basic simple rules until the past couple of years. Miami went all-in on the all-black theme for the playoffs this year, so them in black uniforms was essentially correct. I agree that Heat in black and Lakers in white was a travesty, but they did fulfill home/road designations. It's just that those road designations were dumb. What's interesting to me is that before the Finals, the current white Lakers set had no particular attachment for me. But now, of course, it does. Kind of similar to how the initial white Lakers set was no great shakes up until Kobe dropped 81. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

The NBA needs to go back to that ASAP. There are way too many jerseys that are worn too frequently. Alternates should only be worn a handful of times. Each primary, should be worn an even number of games or at the very least, close to the same number. Kinda off topic, but not. In normal times, the home/road designations make sense. But, in the bubble, did it give a team an advantage? In the NHL, it mattered because of line change purposes and you get to pick which direction you get to shoot at twice. Guest
Question: is it still going to be the 2020-21 season or just 2021 season from now on due to the pandemic and everything getting pushed back, perhaps permanently?

Good question, IDK? The lock season in the late 90s is still referred to as the 1998-99 season even though the season started in February. I would assume they'd do the same thing this upcoming season unless/until they decide to permanently hold a season within a calendar year. I never could articulate what it is about concrete home/road designations that appeals to me outside of “it’s tradition”, but this right here is it. There’s really something about looking at past historical moments and being able to quickly identify where it all happened based on the uniforms worn. I understand that there may be exceptions with regards to neutral sites (Super Bowl, NCAA tournaments/bowls, the bubbles), but - generally speaking - there’s really something enjoyable about, say, looking at pictures of Dikembe celebrating the upset over the Sonics in ‘93 wearing navy and remembering, “oh right! They did that on the road!” Or remembering Iverson stepping over Lue happened in LA because of the respective uniform colors. It’s not that you’ve never known where it happened, it’s just nice that in regards to historical moments, uniforms - depending on the sport, of course - served for years as a functional identifier of locale (especially when other identifiers, like the court/field or stadium architecture, aren’t clearly identifiable within the framing of said photos or footage). Great post!!!!!!. Looking back in 10 years we will be "was that game 4 o r5". This is just another great example of the NBA money grabbers making a mockery of team identities. I just googled it and apparently not. I am guessing it might not be enough time to figure out when, were, if and how they can play and also not enough time for training camp, pre-season and enough rest for players who've gotten deep into the playoffs. https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/10/13/growing-buzz-that-next-nba-season-will-start-on-martin-luther-king-jr-day https://fansided.com/2020/10/14/jan-18-is-the-target-start-date-for-the-2020-21-nba-season/
