Blake Bortles is signing with the LA Rams to serve as Goff’s backup.

It's time for Bortles to Ram It:

It’s odd seeing Tannehill and Bortles on teams now that have franchise QBs set for the future. Albeit, Tannehill didn’t really have a choice due to trade, but if I were at least Bortles I would’ve tried to get a contract with the Giants or Patriots

Lol, the Titans definitely don’t have a franchise QB that “sets them for the future”. If anything, I kind of expect Tannehill to end up being the starter pretty early considering Mariota’s injury history.

Actually, Tannehill and Mariota are relatively comparable quarterbacks. They both have some great intangibles and both had high hopes placed on them early on, but neither one has really been able to fully put it together and utilize the talent they have. To be honest with you, I’d probably go with Tannehill if I had to chose between the two of them. I wouldn’t really expect much from either, though.

A real, actual NFL team signed Ereck Flowers.

Take one guess who it was.

He might work well with the Steelers because cheapshots like his are legal when you play for them.

And if you had the Raiders in the pool you won.

I really hope the NFL doesn’t let the Robert Kraft situation slide out from under them. If Jerry Richardson had to sell the Panthers because of his wrongdoings, the same should happen to Kraft.

”I’m sorry.” doesn’t cut it.

It all started at 20 years old on stage at the NFL draft when my dream came true, and now here I am about to turn 30 in a few months with a decision I feel is the biggest of my life so far. I will be retiring from the game of football today. I am so grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick gave to me when drafting my silliness in 2010. My life experiences over the last 9 years have been amazing both on and off the field. The people I have meet, the relationships I have built, the championships I have been apart of, I just want to thank the whole New England Patriots organization for every opportunity I have been giving and learning the great values of life that I can apply to mine. Thank you to all of Pats Nation around the world for the incredible support since I have been apart of this 1st class organization. Thank you for everyone accepting who I am and the dedication I have put into my work to be the best player I could be. But now its time to move forward and move forward with a big smile knowing that the New England Patriots Organization, Pats Nation, and all my fans will be truly a big part of my heart for rest of my life. It was truly an incredible honor to play for such a great established organization and able to come in to continue and contribute to keep building success. To all my current and past teammates, thank you for making each team every year special to be apart of. I will truly miss you guys. Cheers to all who have been part of this journey, cheers to the past for the incredible memories, and a HUGE cheers to the uncertain of whats next.

Why do I get this feeling Gronk will be back for the second half of the 2019 season & playoffs?

Exactly. If he doesn't come back next season, he'll pull a Jason Whitten and come back in 2020.

Even if so, taking a year off can only be good for your body, not bad. He’s a moron, but not for this. Good on him for getting out while he still has full use of the limited brain he has, or at least for preserving himself and extending his career by a few extra years if he does decide to come back.

Rewatchables is great. NBA Ringer has really hit its stride. The Larry Wilmore show is excellent. Bill Simmons' celebrity interviews are generally very good.

Why he can't see that his over the top Boston homerism (and lately, over the top LeBron hate) hurts far more than it helps is beyond me. That stupid deflategate trial is probably what killed his HBO show, and yet.

I'd argue what Kraft did was worse. While Jerry Richardson was a racist creep, the people he victimized could at least get restitution for their mistreatment. Not so much with literal sex slaves.

at-ing an athlete in a tweet is so lame and thirsty. And spelling out his accomplishments like that is just dorky. I don't know what other word to use. It's very "please come on my podcast".

We're all from somewhere, we all have our teams, and he's allowed to like Boston's sports teams, but he has no awareness for just how tired the rest of us are of Boston. On top of the last 18, 19 years of nonstop elite teams and championships, the Red Sox and Patriots won the two most recent championships. He couldn't be more spoiled, and yet he won't stop bitching about the Celtics.  His staff should get in his ear about this, but it doesn't feel like there's anyone there who's able to do that. The Ringer is basically a Celtics blog, they'll never live down "Patriots Week" in my eyes, and he says things like "so just because we've experienced a lot of success we're not allowed to bitch when things aren't going well? It's in our DNA to bitch." YES. Dude, you're the person who invented the 5 Year Rule. I guarantee next season when the Pats start their usual 2-2 he'll be lamenting the loss of Gronk and upset that Belichick didn't do all he could to keep and/or replace him.

Not sure what is worse. The "accomplishment" tweets or the equally terrible "lineup" tweets. I've probably seen a hundred tweets from Celtics or Lakers fans showing potential lineups after they get Anthony Davis and every other star player in the NBA.

As many predicted, it will be Packers@Bears on Thursday night to open the season. Pats will host the opening Sunday night game (Browns or Chiefs?). Also, looks like 49ers-Rams might open the 2020 season in China. 49ers would lose a home game.

My guess is Gronk ends up in the WWE.

In terms of athleticism, personality, look, and attitude, Gronk has everything you would want in a pro wrestler.

From WWE's perspective, I can't think of a better cross over the figure to bring in. With their Fox deal, they will have the money to match what he was making in the NFL. Plus he's still young enough to where he can have a 10-15 year career if he chooses to.

We'll see what happens going forward, but I see a guy that still wants to be involved in sports. I think he's just tired of middle linebackers trying to take his head off while cornerbacks and safeties go for his knees.
