K-State should have brought back the light gray helmets they had in the 80s (incredibly unique shade)..or if they want to go with that "Cats" script, just bring back the purple helmets from 1988 or so.

This picture is from 1987, but it's nice due to simplicity and nostalgia (back when college football was still kind of a small deal in the Big 8):

Those are some mighty fine neck rolls on the Kansas players.

Edit: Apparently the Cincinnati field is fake - https://www.wlwt.com/article/no-cincinnati-bearcats-will-not-play-on-a-black-football-field-friday/29322948

If you though blue jerseys on blue turf was tough to watch...just wait until black jerseys on black turf.

A small deal? In 1987, OU and Nebraska played as the #1 and #2 ranked teams. They were two of the nation's super powers for two decades straight in the 70s and 80s. This is like posting a picture of a current Vanderbilt game and stating the SEC doesn't have passion.

They're also still sharing a stadium until 2021 with FC Cincinnati, so that means no funky colors until then.

No it’s real, ESPN retweeted it from the official account. That white end zone is driving me crazy. https://twitter.com/espncfb/status/1179096675098464256?s=21

"The design is against NCAA regulation.

For starters, the lines on the renderings are red, and according to the rule book, "All field-dimension lines shown must be white and 4 inches in width."

The rules also read, "The entirety of all yard lines, goal lines, and sidelines must be clearly visible. No portion of any such line may be obscured by decorative markings." An outline of the city of Cincinnati appears on the field, spanning from each 10-yard line. It is unclear if this outline would violate the rule."

The fact ESPN is involved in anything doesn't make it legitimate. ESPN Twitter is the same as the talking heads on Lock It In and the talk show where the guests get points for each take they give.

The social media manager at ESPN probably didn't verify it.

It's not real.

College football in the 80s was very much small potatoes compared to what it is today.

In the Big 8, five of the teams were pretty bad up until McCartney got rolling at CU.  It wasn't quite like the SEC.

Blue unis on blue turf looks fine to me.  I'd dig this with proper lighting.

If you think Big 8 football was small potatoes in the 1980s, you're rooting for the wrong teams.
