Man the pinstripes are really going to hurt this look. So close. Lose the pinstripes and use a cream instead of white material and it’d be solid.

That's how I feel as well, for right now. But, the Padres did look really good in their World Series era pinstriped set, so I'll withhold judgement until I see them. I could see the Pinstripes either looking very neat and clean and really adding to the set, or just looking wonky and out of place.

Cream would not go over well with the fanbase since the Giants already wear it.

Not to mention it is just a meh look anyway. Bright whites are the way to go for home whites. Cream just looks like what it really was... uniforms that didn’t get fully cleaned.

But yeah, Giants look for sure. Pinstripes were on the best blue and brown unis the team had worn to date, so bringing them back was a good call.

How many years did the Padres try to be darker Dodger blue south?

And I'd say pinstripes are even worse than cream since it's embarrassing trying to be the Yankees (which is basically what teams that wear pinstripes are trying to do). I know other teams have, and have had them, but the truth is it's a poor attempt to be the Yankees. I wouldn't say wearing cream is the same thing.

Yeah, no. Are contrast-colored front numbers a Dodgers' emulation?

Since when did the Yankees have a monopoly on pinstripes?

the seats were originally, and fairly far along into the planning process, going to be baby blue.

That would have looked pretty nice. Wish they'd gone with that.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

One of my favorite historical anecdotes is that those initial red numbers were considered incredibly colorful for their time. And of my favorite current design realities is that for all of the nonsense MLB is doing with Miami and Arizona, the Dodgers still look more elegantly colorful and effortlessly modern.

And fans hated it.

I'm as much an advocate for brown and gold as anybody, and I'm gonna be thrilled with pretty much anything they roll out, but the pinstripes are not doing it for me.

I love the colors, the font, the neck and sleeve trim, but to my eye, these home whites would look so much cleaner without those stripes.

Is the Friar not going on the sleeve? Because it will be a mess trying to compete with the pinstripes.....

I wish you would've never said this, because as much as i've been an advocate for pinnies, that jersey would look beautiful without them as well. hopefully we can add that a couple years down the road.

Wait, I thought more than anything people wanted consistency from the Pads? Now people want them to ditch the pinstripes? 😂

I've long wanted the Brewers to adopt thick blue soutache stripes with pins, much like this San Francisco Seals jersey (only continuing all the way down the placket)

But I don't know how I feel about just neck and sleeve trim.  If it's thin like the Giants, it might work.

But if it's too thick, or if the sleeve ends are elasticized, that could well be too much.

The execution is key.

As I said, I know many teams have had them over the years, my point is that pinstripes are most synonymous with the Yankees, and success, which is why all teams that use them are simply trying to be like the Yankees. I think the Padres, with the unique brown, should be the Padres, not the Yankees lite.
