MLB Changes 2020

The pride of Southern Ontario defaulting to a "it just doesn't get any bettuh den dis" praise of the Yankees makes my heart hurt. I can see the gold necklace and the tracksuit.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

HatClub released a custom version of the Nationals' new BP cap today.

I think this would be a great primary cap for them.

The white "W" reads strongly even at distance, and it's okay that the red doesn't, because it provides nice detail close-up while not interfering with that distance legibility.

Love this cap.  And others must as well, considering how quickly they're selling out.

HatClub is good at marketing to their customers. Almost everything that’s decent sells out.

They have small runs. Everything is super expensive. And the quality is absolute trash.  I have no idea how they do it. But yes. They do have decent designs, most don't care about the others intangibles.

It's just that everything else now has made them easy to pass up. Designs alone don't do it for me.   I used to buy religiously their made in USA caps.  I've bought from them once in the past year.

Yes, the runs are small. And they’re not cheap.  The quality is exactly the same as all other New Era caps.  Better even, because they actually have someone looking at the individual caps and weeding out the standard New Era problems.  I’ve never had a bill sewn on as crooked or a logo as off-center with a HatClub custom than I have buying from Lids or MLBshop.

But with all that, some runs still sell our more quickly than others. And this was one of those.

I'd love that design, albeit with a modified Albertus "W."

The team really should have stuck by Albertus, as it's perfect for the team. Neutraface (like they use now) or light Futura is good as well, but Albertus really nails it.

That’s good too.

Either way, so much better than ripping off Walgreens.

That's tons better than the Walgreens Ws they're wearing now.

The Nationals current on-field set is easily bottom ten in baseball for me but it doesn't have to be.

They have elements that are among the best in baseball - this BP logo, the “Nationals” script - but they insist on keeping those sidelined. Baffling.

I have a difficult time faulting Hat Club for a lot of these issues, though. They double dipped for a short time there (which wasn’t good, no denying that), but now they’re at the mercy of New Era (the REAL culprits in all of this) just like everyone else is.

Sadly, I haven’t purchased anything from Hat Club in almost a year (aside from the few customs @Sport has been nice enough to toss my way), and don’t plan to for a lot of the same reasons. But they’ve built up enough goodwill with me over the years to at least give them the benefit of the doubt on their current struggles.

I think I would rather see a navy dome on a red cap.  Could someone mock that up?

Sure! The Washington Nationals themselves can

I thought I may have actually seen that before, but google didn't pull up anything for me to confirm.

But yea... that hat is what the Nats should look like to me.

good info @Gothamite and @FiddySicks

I realize they are at new eras mercy. But we are the end line consumer. We can deem $42 caps as ridiculous and not pay.   I tend to wait for sales caps.

I'm glad they throw out crooked stitching and brims. That's more of a large scale MLB on field overseas issue.

I may have mentioned it. Their poly caps made in Bangladesh have the worst looking and fitting crowns I have ever witnessed. Their Chinese wool feels and looks about as good as Chinese wool has looked over the past 4-5 years. The Bangladesh poly also is super slick and just an all around terrible hat.

Sizing has been an issue over the years, made worse by the large crowned bad fitting Bangladesh caps. I guess if you can stay away from those, the Chinese wool haven't degraded. They are what is typical of the college AC and milb on fields.

I don't like gambling so I don't test their waters much. I hear of some buying 4-5 similar sizes, and then return the 'bad' ones. That can't be good for business

That seems pretty silly.  I'm not sure I believe that, especially considering how much better the quality control is than literally any other online source.

I dont know if anyone noticed but Mitchell and Ness is now making TATC jerseys. I dont know why but it wont let me post the picture but I believe they got the color wrong on the Tony Gwynn Padres jersey.
