I’m a Dodgers fan obviously, and their look has been pretty flawless over time...but the combination of that white cap and that batting practice jersey with the large LA on it was not that particularly good of a look.

My baseball aesthetics are probably skewed by the amount of time I spend around the high school game, but I'm a relatively big fan of a white hat that's worn over top of a color jersey and wish one of the "newer" teams would give it a go in the majors. I think this North Carolina set is really nice, as an example.

There are currently 10 teams in MLB who haven't sold off their stadium naming rights, so it seems strange that they'd want to jump right into ad patches on the uniform.

MetLife pays 20 million a year to have their name on the Jets/Giants stadium. Just imagine what the Yankees could bring in if they wanted to throw a company name on the building.

This is why I don’t see the Yankees having an ad on their jerseys.

Nope.

Yep. These ones do anyways.

That hat was far inferior to the solid red cap with the white “wishbone” C. That hat just screams 90’s gaudiness. (The Reds have always been so close to perfection, and only had it for a few years in the 60’s right before the pullover look.) A white hat can look good in baseball, but it does have to have the right color balance, like the Tar Heels look there. Most of the time, it doesn’t look good, especially when it’s white over white. Then it’s just too much white. Similar to how an all white football look needs colored socks, a white baseball uniform needs a colored hat...

Your example is no more specific than DG's Seattle example.

Are Santa Monica/Venice Beach not popular anymore? There are still a ton of local businesses in Santa Monica

Are these places in Santa Monica empty for years? What was the average increase in rent? Was rent the only factor?

That's happening everywhere though. Airlines will charge you for everything (except Southwest). Luxury hotels (where they used to charge you for internet until they hotel chains realized free internet brought in more people).

Getting something comped in a casino usually means you already lost big on a hand or because the casino needs the traffic. You get free drinks in a casino because you just lost 100 bucks on blackjack.

The casinos that charge for everything are targeting a high-end demographic. The low-end casinos will comp you on far more things because they need customers in the door. Circus Circus isn't nickle and diming anyone.

There are multiple articles on the commercial evolution of both Abbot Kinney and 3rd street promenade that support my position. You are more than welcome to research in your free time. I also don't buy your high end  hotel rationale for charging for everything when it's actually quite the opposite when one expects high end service. When I fly business/first class or stay at a 5 star resort I don't expect to get nickel and dimed for every amenity I consume take because it's extremely tacky and low rent.

Here's an example of a building in Seattle that housed a business (a strip club) for 25 years, kicked them out a decade ago, and has been empty pretty much ever since: https://seattle.curbed.com/2019/4/24/18306601/lusty-lady-building-history-seattle

Tampa Bay could definitely pull off this look.

They could pull off powder blue as a base color, as we've discussed before, but not those white hats and helmets. Those look goofy and, like vests, unbefitting of the major leagues.

The Reds ones looked terrible.  The stripes never met perfectly, and pinstripes simply don't belong on a hat.  How often do you see someone in a pinstriped suit with a matching hat?  It's silly and gimmicky.

My problem with white hats is I never think they are the better option. Some look great like the UNC one posted above but I still find myself wanting an appropriately colored non-white hat instead. To me that means they probably shouldn’t be used more than by a few college teams and no MLB teams because there is no reason to Go with an inferior look. That’s to say nothing about all of the terrible white hats.

The Dodgers weren't the only team that experimented with white BP caps, FWIW:

All three were replaced with more conventional BP caps after a year, and I'm fairly certain the Rangers never even wore theirs on the field - at least, I can't find any pictures of them wearing it, not even in spring training.

I don't see a problem with white hats with pinstripes. It's a traditional look that was worn during the early days of MLB.

There's lots of problems with white hats with pinstripes.

1. It looks dumb and silly

2. The hats purchased and worn by fans turn into a sweaty beige after like six months.

3. the triangular shape created by the pinstripes underneath the logo on front. Looks bad.

4. The other hat they had at their disposal, the "road" hat, looked a lot better with the white home vests and we know this because that's what they wore when they were at the plate. So they could've looked really good at the plate and in the field and decided not to.

a lot of people here seem to have some weird nostalgic boner for these uniforms and I, a lifelong Reds fan, cannot understand it. I was really glad when they stopped wearing them and when they wore them last year in their throwback bonanza I was reminded how much I hated them.

I respect your opinions here but, I still disagree. I still don't see a problem with them and as a matter of fact I like them. IMO They look good and they give off a sense of tradition and affection for the past that I really like.

I have worn New Era Caps nearly every single day for 30+ years. Personally, I like the look of pinstriped caps on my cabeza.

One day the Reds will realize red and white are the only two colors they need. The black accents look worse as time goes on.

That Royals cap looks like a 'Free Cap Night' promotion. I'd like to see another angle just to make sure there's not some insurance company sponsorship patch on the back.

No, that was the actual BP cap. They kept the same design the following year but changed the cap from white to blue.

Wordmarks weren't exactly unheard of on BP caps at the time:
