crashcarson15 Posted June 23, 2020 Share Posted June 23, 2020 My baseball aesthetics are probably skewed by the amount of time I spend around the high school game, but I'm a relatively big fan of a white hat that's worn over top of a color jersey and wish one of the "newer" teams would give it a go in the majors. There are multiple articles on the commercial evolution of both Abbot Kinney and 3rd street promenade that support my position. You are more than welcome to research in your free time. I also don't buy your high end hotel rationale for charging for everything when it's actually quite the opposite when one expects high end service. When I fly business/first class or stay at a 5 star resort I don't expect to get nickel and dimed for every amenity I consume take because it's extremely tacky and low rent. How often do you see someone in a pinstriped suit with a matching hat? It's silly and gimmicky. Some look great like the UNC one posted above but I still find myself wanting an appropriately colored non-white hat instead. To me that means they probably shouldn’t be used more than by a few college teams and no MLB teams because there is no reason to Go with an inferior look. That’s to say nothing about all of the terrible white hats. Lights Out Posted June 24, 2020 Share Posted June 24, 2020 The Dodgers weren't the only team that experimented with white BP caps, FWIW: All three were replaced with more conventional BP caps after a year, and I'm fairly certain the Rangers never even wore theirs on the field - at least, I can't find any pictures of them wearing it, not even in spring training. The hats purchased and worn by fans turn into a sweaty beige after like six months. 3. the triangular shape created by the pinstripes underneath the logo on front. Looks bad. 4. The other hat they had at their disposal, the "road" hat, looked a lot better with the white home vests and we know this because that's what they wore when they were at the plate. So they could've looked really good at the plate and in the field and decided not to. a lot of people here seem to have some weird nostalgic boner for these uniforms and I, a lifelong Reds fan, cannot understand it. I was really glad when they stopped wearing them and when they wore them last year in their throwback bonanza I was reminded how much I hated them. I still don't see a problem with them and as a matter of fact I like them. IMO They look good and they give off a sense of tradition and affection for the past that I really like. They kept the same design the following year but changed the cap from white to blue.
