MLB Changes 2020

I like that Nats script a lot, but the more I see of that jersey, the more I wish they would reverse the colors. There was a picture of a prototype Nats jersey floating around here a few years ago with that, and it was probably the best looking Nationals jersey I’ve ever seen.

I know this this may not be popular with everyone, but I kinda think they nailed with their original set. I LOVED the gold beveling (I’m a bit of a sucker for metallic gold thread on baseball jerseys), and I think if they would’ve paired that with the DC logo they used on their alt/BP caps (the one in the post just above this one), they would’ve been the best looking team in baseball.

The W is fine, but I think they could’ve used that as a throwback inspired alt and it would’ve been just fine. I get that the curly W logo has history, and I don’t necessarily hate it, but... Meh. It’s just an ok logo IMO. There’s a lot of pushback on them not using “DC” as their primary cap logo for whatever reason, but I’ve yet to see a single W logo concept I like better than that DC logo.

Is there?  I don’t recall that at all.  And considering the District of Columbia is the official name of the city, I’d be surprised if people there were opposed to a DC logo.

The new home jersey paired with the Capitol Building cap would be my ideal Nats look.

That was their look during spring training, and its the best the team has ever looked in my opinion.

I don't know how known this is, because I don't think they actually sold it, and this sites article about the 2019 ST hats didn't include it at all, but there was actually another version of the cap they used during road games. I wonder why they didn't bring this one back?

That never looks better.

All a background outline does is clutter up a wordmark.   It’s much better this way, with only one outline.  Nothing else is needed.

Blue letters with a red outline make it look purple and muddy. It would be a better look if the colors were reversed. The white in the middle would only be there to differentiate the colors, I can see your point about clutter, but I don't agree. It's a matter of personal preference ultimately

Was sold at the stadium only. Never saw it online. Don't recall seeing it at local stores (which is weird).

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

The size of the logo on the hat is too small, I can barely make it out in the top pic. Other than that it’s a solid logo

I mean, I disagree with it, and am in the same boat as you. I just remember, rather distinctly, there being a few people here who were opposed to using the DC logo as their primary cap logo, and the argument was that Washington was the name of the city, not DC (or something g along those lines). This was quite a long time ago, though.

Speaking of Nationals uniform talk and concepts from a long time ago... Whoever runs the CCSLC Lounge Act on Twitter pointed out how the new Nats caps look sort of like the old P.I.L.L/ProLogo concepts, and I now hate you forever. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to unsee that.

Cleveland needs to take note of these logos. Relatively boring and generic W made really interesting.

I disagree. There's nothing wrong with the basic senators W.

My biggest grip with the new caps are how the W gets lost in the mix. If anything, the red ST cap stands out because the W contrasts. A white W on a white front panel is just stupid. Maybe the outline needs to thicken up?

I like the DC as an alternate. And both large Ws for regular usage

The introduction of this new Nationals jersey is such an unfortunate event. The previous look was magnificent.

This is just a gorgeous baseball uniform. (To mention its only flaw, the two-colour piping which should be red only, would be to quibble.)

The Nationals have gone from one of the very best looks in baseball to a look that sits firmly within the bottom half.

I think the script should be red as the Nats are a red-dominant team. Or if they're switching to blue-dominant make the front numbers blue as well, or take them off. They look jarringly mismatched right now.

DC logo is superior to the curly W and the overly complicated Ws, plus it's original to this version of the team. And there's already precedent with the original Senators donning TC caps when they became the Minnesota Twins.

I’d say they are a red and blue team, and neither color is dominant for them.

I mostly agree, but I do think at some point the Nats should become a blue dominant team.  Outside of the Capitals, the Wizards (I would argue) are a blue dominant team as well as all Team USA's.  Also, the direction and perspective of the flag is dependent of the starfield, which is blue.

I mean none of that really matters, but thats just my take.

Said it a thousand times, original scripts in navy blue and DC on the caps is the way to go. The Walgreens W should have been banished to BP/ST status when they moved into the new park, or even when the name and identity were officially announced (it had served as an interim "DC Baseball" logo, iirc), and actually, now that there are those cool neo-Senators-mk.1 caps in the mix, there's no need for the Walgreens W at all.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
