This morning the Blue Jays unveiled an alternate powder blue uniform for the 2020 season before a crowd of media and fans here at […] Read More...

Dynasty 2,420 Posted January 18, 2020 When is every team going to start "swapping" their primaries and secondaries?
jws008 240 Posted January 18, 2020 I actually don’t mind the powder blue trend; but I also don’t want to see it added for teams with no history of wearing it. This update for the Blue Jays is well done and fine with me (well, other than that stupid swoosh).
FiddySicks 11,369 Posted January 18, 2020 Those are just fine, but the navy blue cap feels absolutely pointless. Just pair those with the white front panel caps and leave it at that.
hofflalu 36 Posted January 18, 2020 The Blue Jays were, in my opinion, a team that made sense having a powder blue option, so I like. I'm still wary of the full powder blue-at-home thing -- I still think that look should be reserved for the road -- but since a lot of Blue Jays fans have been clamoring to see the team in powder blue, they might as well wear it in front of said fans at home. (And there is that precedent from 2008-2010).
MJD7 3,400 Posted January 18, 2020 This is what the Rays should have done from the start back in 2008.
hofflalu 36 Posted January 18, 2020 This new Blue Jays uni makes me wonder -- isn't there a team still out there going to unveil a road-only powder blue uniform? I thought after the Rangers unveiling that there was a team with a powder blue alternate (maybe it was Toronto?) and a team with a powder blue road in the offing.
hormone 652 Posted January 18, 2020 Are the rangers and rays jealous now? The jays have 3 shades of blue on the uniforms now. The rays are the only team that makes sense of powder blue. It’s one of the team colors. The royals forced it and the rangers really forced it and the cards, Phillies, and jays are capitalizing on a trend of 80s road uniforms. It’s not really their colors, just replicating old trendy road uniforms. I think we’ve entered PBFPBS territory in baseball just how BFBS and GFGS took over college football. The nfl is getting really sloppy with monochrome and leotards and the nba, well, who knows what the teams colors are anymore between nicknames and city colors and ads. I guess hockey now is the most “normal” looking league. EDIT- here’s another gripe. If you made a helmet just for this, why doesn’t it match the cap?
alecgoff 914 Posted January 18, 2020 The jersey itself is great, but I wish that they went with white panel hats with navy brims.
zigbazah 449 Posted January 18, 2020 I might be biased but the only powder blue jersey I actually like is the Royals. And they at least have the decency to pair it with white pants and a royal cap.
Digby 6,924 Posted January 18, 2020 Don't love that. Just about all of the modern "powder blue" jerseys use shades that are too saturated, and I don't think they work nearly as well outside of the pullover era. The less said about ramping up the navy use, the better. Weird choice given their divisional rivals.
CaliforniaGlowin 2,200 Posted January 18, 2020 I love it, but yet another team getting light blue uniforms for the regular season that are NOT the Marlins. The Marlins will probably be the last team to wear the blue in the regular season. Coming in last as always.
heavybass 740 Posted January 18, 2020 Someone on a discord thread pointed out that the helmet is matte black.... damn it Blue Jays, you nearly pulled off a look that everyone can get aboard...

Looks like a matte navy. Matches the navy blue in the logo. The hat is 95% similar to the Anaheim Angels' 98-01 alternate hats...back when people were like "there's no periwinkle in baseball"
BC985 1,468 Posted January 18, 2020 Powder blue is already becoming tired, but the Blue Jays don’t look nearly as bad as the Rangers. The navy blue hat with the powder blue bill looks good. The Rays should have done that years ago, but that’s not a new opinion. The Jays swapping their primary and secondary logos is the wrong move.

I was amazed to be just inches away from these beautiful things, and was disappointed to learn that they were not for sale. Flash forward to 1982, and a friend bought the first authentic I'd ever seen first-hand, and it was glorious. It was a bright red Cardinals cap, and my friends and I couldn't stop admiring it.
Kevin W. 1,989 Posted January 18, 2020 Powder blue pants look awful. Seriously, the monochrome powder blue trend was never good. It needs to stay in the past with pullovers and stirrups. That jersey would look infinitely better paired with their normal white pants.
