Vegas deserves some credit for this.

If their uniforms didn't use actual metallic gold, I have a feeling these would be that awful Penguins and Saints-esque beige.

Yea, pretty much

The Penguins also used a more metallic fabric prior to Edge.

[pic omitted for size purposes]

Obviously that fabric existed during the Edge era, but Reebok didn't care (Nike in the NFL won't use it either). I wonder if Vegas demanded that Adidas let them use a metallic gold fabric.

The difference is Vegas' jerseys use the same material as the pre-Edge Senators 3rd and not the shiny ribbon (for a lack of a better term) material the pre-Edge Penguins used

The Senators use it on their home and road crest, though, right?

They have, yes. Since day one I believe.

He and his partners should have been able to pony up the money needed to build it without public money. So yeah, you should have blamed him if it happened.

Why? The PLAN B that the Pirates and Steelers got on board with USED Tax Payer money! The Eagles had gotten a new Football Field with State / Tax Payer money, then again former PA Governor Eddie RenDELPHIA (Rendell) as we called him on the Western part of the State, would do a Eagles Radio show (no bias whatsoever  LOL).

Check it, this is how F'd up the whole PA / Pittsburgh Slots License process was!
Harrahs Casino was one of the 3 Casinos up for the Pittsburgh Slots / Casino License (Harrahs, Isle of Capri and Majestic Star). I'll give you 3 guesses (first 2 don't count) as to a what Politician (cough cough Rendell cough cough) had Ties to Harrahs Casino. KDKA News broke the story that Rendell had Ties to Harrahs Casino. The PA Gaming Commision, could have done the right thing and awarded the Pittsburgh Slots License to IOC (hence keeping TAX PAYERS off the hook for building the new Arena) but as you have been reading they F'd it up!

Why do Cities and States bend over Backwards to draw in a Sports Franchise? Having a BIG League Sports Franchise means TAXABLE REVENUE coming into that City / County / Borough / State. Yinzer Nation oops I mean Steelers Nation is known to Travel to Away Games. Do you think the City of Cincinnati  / State of Ohio CARES that Pittsburghers Invade their town for a football game? That is OUT OF STATE Revenue coming into their Area!
As a former usher at CONSOL Energy Center (name change to PPG Paints Arena in 2016), a Multi-Purpose Arena hosts more than just Penguin Hockey Games (generally anywhere from 220 - 260 Events a Year, there's 365 days in a year correct? That's a crap ton of Taxable Revenue coming into the City). Hell I'll be at the Paint Can tomorrow (Saturday 17th) to see my favorite band IRON MAIDEN. Pens games, Concerts, Disney on Ice, WWF (oops WWE), Monster Jam, Stars on Ice (Figure Skating), College Graduations, 2013 I got PAID to watch the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament, NCAA Basketball (backyard Brawl, PITT vs WVU), NCAA Basketball March Madness Tournament was here, NCAA Gymnastics, USGA Olympic Stars (my Daughter does Gymnastics, we couldn't go because we were on our Disney Cruise).

I would love if this was the logo in 2020. I know people look down on shading and stuff in logos these days but that's incredible looking. It's a perfect modernization of the classic, you could argue its like 10-15 years too late in that regard but it's here now. If it's not the main logo then they should atleast keep it like that on the jersey.

There’s no actual shading on the art. It’s all done with embroidery. The logo on the 50th Jersey is just the 2018 Winter Classic crest with embroidered detail on it (and in dark blue/metallic gold, obviously)

You're not wrong.  But it doesn't make any sense for them to change after reaching the mountain top twice in the last seven years.  If they got new uniforms, there would instantly be a large portion of the fan-base demanding a return to the cup-winning look.

Purple and yellow is too garish for me but I would love for the kings to bring back a bit of purple somehow. Stay black white and silver, but its a bit bland.

The one season that they won the Cup was the one season where they didn’t have a ‘70s-‘90s throwback third. Let the throwback die.

Also, the Kings should never, ever, bring purple back. Black/silver/white is their proper identity, the one worn for The Great One and the two Stanley Cup titles. Likewise, the Devils should never embrace green again (and should restore their classic, Cup-winning design, but that’s another rant) and the Blues shouldn’t restore red.

Sometimes, it’s best to let the past die.

Im a bit supporter of the devils going back to dark green. I mean, the cool thing about that potential change is that dark green often looks like black so its not really that much of a departure. And red and dark green to me is way cooler than the obvious, unoriginal red and black combo.

I'm aware it's embroidery but the only way they would be able to make it an actual logo is by having actual shading and I'm not sure how people would feel about that. Silver could work in the team color palette but do you really want that? Keep it logo only? I have no idea.

You say bland, I say effective for the team.

Sure, but it’s still departing from the look the Devils wore when they won all of those Cups and had one of the best goalies ever. They already departed from the uniforms, so I’d rather they not get rid of the color scheme, no matter how unoriginal it is. Just bring back the classic uniform design and limit green to throwbacks.

Honestly none of that changes my opinion that dark green is not that big of a departure. The devils have had a consistent look all throughout their history, 90s red and green jerseys and the current set (not that great but still distinctly devils) included.

Oh, I gotcha. Typically, those kinda of details are only implemented on the crest because of the size and nature of the medium. You can’t really reproduce details like that at smaller scales or in two-dimensional media (like most screen printing), so the print logo is just a solid colored bison.

Essentially, the size and execution of a hockey crest allows you to add an extra layer of detail that you can’t achieve in most merchandise or even on other sports’ uniforms.

And a great example of that is the beautiful chain stitching on the Blackhawks jersey logos, which can't really translate to the print logo.

Ok I can buy that and I agree to an extent but I also don't have a problem with it.  Let me ask you this, say Lemieux / Burkle build their own Arena. Would you have a Problem with them keeping ALL the Revenue generated from said Arena or are you one of those people that would bitch and moan because they are Greedy Billionaires for keeping all the Revenue to themselves. Not to mention, you know damn well the Politicians and the Unions would NEVER allow that to happen (they gotta have their hands on money money money)

We're HUGE Disney World Fanatics, it's like the Florida residents that complain about the Tourists that Disney draws to the area but have Zero problem NOT paying State Taxes Thanks to that Tourism that Disney draws in

Didn't the North Stars use Black Stitching to give the appearance of a 3rd color and or a shadow type look on their Logo and Numbers?

This isn't the venue to have that discussion.

I would defer to PA state law on the matter.

Actually it (Disney)Ties directly into my Point!  A Multi-Purpose Arena or Football Stadium or a Ball Park or Disney or Cedar Point or Hershey Park, all create what? OUT OF STATE Taxable Revenue for the City / County / State in which they reside (which SHOULD BE used to Help the Residents within that Region...correct?)

It's Not Lemieuxs Fault if the corrupt Allegheny County (Pittsburgh is in Allegheny County) and Pittsburgh Politicians misappropriate that Out of State Taxable Revenue. So where should you actually point your Anger to? The Owner of a Hockey Team or the dirty slimy Corrupt Politicians that misuse that Revenue Generated from said Hockey Team / Multi-Purpose Arena
