I missed this when it came out, but Minneapolis City dropped a fantastic kit a couple weeks ago.

Now if only they'd use that script logo full time.

Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop!

Haven’t seen these posted here, so I’ll update with the latest Sac Republic kits I put together.

These are known as the “city” kits. I put these together, but I didn’t have any say on the design this time around, as they were pretty specific on exactly what they wanted. I wasn’t quite sure what to think when I first saw the design (They’re loosely based on our rather gaudy city of a Sacramento flag, but they almost remind me of an LV bag), but I’m warming up to them a bit after spending quite a bit of time with them over the past few weeks. They’re paired with navy shorts and powder blue socks. A bit out there, but the fans seem to really like them.

Even if I have mixed feelings about a design Republic puts out, its still pretty surreal to see my work featured in media layouts and in the public sphere. Not too bad for a dude with no graphic design background (other than dicking around here) who fell bass ackwards into all of this.

Love the little icons on the jersey especially the Tower Bridge.

The initial design they had in mind was VERY different (powder base, large Tower Bridge in navy as a background), and somewhere along the line it got completely changed. I was really thrown off when I opened the boxes to put them together and saw these. I dig it, though. It’s a departure, but it works as a third kit.

I just have to keep keep reminding myself that third kits are always WAY out there.

Indeed, that’s the only point!

And by that measure, these succeed.

Seems the stars have aligned after all and San Diego will get a professional outdoor soccer team in USL Championship in either 2020 or 2021 🤩 🥰

According to their launch media blitz in San Diego last week they will announce more on the team identity process within a couple of days.

Please post all name, logo, colors, kits news & rumors you come across in this thread and link any concepts.

I'll do my best to keep it updated as well.

Personally I'd love to see they team go with orange, navy and sky blue color theme (think NYCFC, Sporting KC, Sydney FC)

One of my past favorite names, San Diego Seals, sadly is already in use for Lacrosse team and i believe also a youth soccer organisation of some kind.

Always thought that be a good fit, as it related to the ocean, the popular animals, as well as the other seals from the US Navy.

As it was the case in the past, I'm sure we'll see plenty of ship anchors and military influenced identity proposals.

Hope there are others though too ;)

If they won't bring back the "Sockers" name, which I doubt, then I would hope they go with something that speaks well to the Hispanic population in SD:

Atlético San Diego

San Diego Azteca FC (or CF for Club de Futbol)

San Diego Santos FC

San Diego Frontera FC

Whale Vagina SC  (Had to)

San Diego Classy FC

The Sockers are still around in the MASL, right? So, I'd be surprised if that name was used.

I like @hawk36's suggestions, and I also like Seals. I think Mission San Diego in brown would be pretty sweet.

Will the MASL Sockers continue though?

That was the thought in Seattle, that the team had to be another name and that the original Sounders would continue in something like the USL. But the fans pushed hard for the Sounders and got a version of it (Sounders FC instead of just Sounders). Granted having the old Sounders' owner be a part of the new MLS team was vital to allowing it to happen.

And, alas, the old Sounders never stuck around. They ceases once the MLS team arrived. Maybe San Diego ownership brings in the current MASL ownership and they do a similar thing... Sockers FC for the USL team.

I'd like to a see a navy themed name since there are some Navy bases in the area. Otherwise San Diego Surf would be good. Or like San Diego Sandstars or something beach related, I dunno.

For colors I was thinking about something along these lines:
