I wasn’t joking when I suggested merging them with the Marlins and simply being the AL Miami Marlins (run by the Rays’ brass, who have their crap together a bit more than the Marlins’ ownership group). Oh, how quaint. I’ll believe it when the first pitch is thrown in this mythical new yard. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Dalcowboyfan92
Vlad Jr. hit the first of what should be many home runs in his career in the top of the first in San Francisco off of Giants' pitcher Nick Vincent.

Numbers have been a bit down since he was called up until last night. But watching Vlad Jr. at the plate is like watching a puppy with big paws trying to walk. He's not there yet in terms of being a dominant hitter at the Major League level, but you can see the potential for much bigger oozing out with every hack he takes. At the plate, he reminds me a lot of Jim Thome. He hits everything hard, and that's on top of having the pitch recognition ability comparable to Joey Votto. In terms of intangibles, I don't see Vlad Jr. as a Major League ready player, but I also don't see the point in keeping someone hitting .370 at Triple-A. No amount of minor league experience is going to make him a better hitter, because there's no pitcher at that level capable of getting him out on a consistent basis. Defensively he also reminds me of Jim Thome. He may improve at third, but I've already seen enough to say he's not going to be the next Brooks Robinson. That 6'2" 250+ frame is just way too big to allow for the kind of flexibility and dexterity you need to play the position well. Vlad will have to either drop some weight (which he should do anyway) or move over the first base full-time, which he has the bat to justify already and long-term this might be the best situation for Guerrero. But if he turns into a Frank Thomas level hitter which I think he will be at in two-five years, any potential defensive shortcomings will be quickly forgiven. Barring injury, he will go down as the best hitter the Jays farm system has produced since Carlos Delgado. That quality of player is the low ceiling projection for Vlad Jr.
DCarp1231
This issue gets brought up every year... MASN still continues to owe the Nationals millions of dollars and seemingly refuses to pay any of it. I honestly don’t know a lot about the situation, but it seems odd that the Nationals are stuck in the situation when they could have a better option in NBC Sports Washington. The same network that airs Capitals and Wizards games. Are the Nationals just simply stuck between a rock and a hard place?
kmccarthy27
Speaking of the Orioles there has been a “denied” rumor in the city that the Angelos family is talking to some people about relocating the team to Vegas. Either them just relocating with the ownership OR them selling the team for $3B.
NDFreek
Is it just me or has the “bat flipping controversy” going on been very overblown? I mean in the case that it seems there’s more people defending them then there are people who actively are against it. I saw this tweet after the Reds walked off against the Cubs on Wednesday, but I never saw anyone actually scolding Puig, yet Votto was quick to defend him against no one. Sure you’ll have some of the contrarian old school reporters and fans hate it, but at this point it seems almost everyone is in agreement they’re okay but still every bat flip becomes a story. Ian Kinsler did a bat flip in yesterday's game vs Pittsburgh but it was controversial for a whole different reason. trueyankee26.wordpress.com
TrueYankee26
If you told me a few months ago someone named Gio Urshella would put the Yankees in first place in the AL East over the Rays by getting a walkoff hit against the latter team I would say you are super crazy. trueyankee26.wordpress.com

FiddySicks
Watching the city of Las Vegas stretch itself way too thin and crumble under their own weight is going to be so much fun. As someone who grew up in that god forsaken state, I can’t properly put into words how badly I want to see that happen. GDAWG
Las Vegas wants an MLB team? Just because they sit at the big kids table in the NHL and soon in the NFL doesn't mean that they can do the same in baseball. I expect Las Vegas to be linked to NBA expansion when the NBA decides to expand again in 50 years, by which time, The A's and Rays will have moved to Mars. BBTV
Baseball needs more bat flips, more pitchers fist pumping, and more middle fingers. It’s a effing game. From some of the things I saw, their argument is the establishing of the Nationals has severely cut into the affluent fan base the team had and that’s why they are having attendance issues in Baltimore. Not the :censored:ty playing by the team or the shooting/murders that people don’t wanna go to the city at night as much.
