New York Jets unveil new uniforms

Seeing the Jets uniforms in game make me like them even more than when they were first shown. Someone else said it, either in this thread or elsewhere, that this is the best uniform set that's been released since Nike took over, and I agree. They're not perfect. The helmet logo is boring; I really can't wrap my head around the fact that they didn't try to do something with a jet. I really like the finish on the helmet, though. It looks great in natural light.

The road uniforms may honestly be my favorite all-white sets in the league. The home uniforms are decent as well. I'm not looking forward to seeing the mono-green or mono-black, which I feel will be worn way too often.

All this set needs IMO is some kind of jet underneath the JETS word mark on the helmet (as mentioned earlier in this thread, a forward facing jet could work since it would tie into the stripes on the shoulder) instead of a football (which honestly baffles me) and a white sock with green stripes option so they can go W-G-W which I think would look quite good.

From the Jets twitter. It looks really good here. I was always a fan of these to begin with, but they have grown on me even more. There are a couple minor things (namely a black outline on the angle stripes on both the jersey and pants), but I am definitely a fan.

...which means they'll go a bit too far back and modernize Bucco Bruce.

The biggest problem I have with the Bucs isn’t even their uniforms, which are undeniably atrocious. It’s that they “updated” the flag logo and made it equally atrocious. Even if they do wise up and go more conservative uniform wise, they’ll still be stuck with the current logo, which is absolute dog :censored:. I know some people don’t hate it with the same kind of passion I do, but that was EASILY the biggest downgrade on a logo update I’ve ever seen any team ever make. The last logo was just about perfect in my eyes, and the update ruined every good aspect of it. That’s the logo that got me into this whole sports logos thing, and them changing away from that actually killed a lot of the love I had for that stupid team in the first place.

Its going to be to be one of two things: (I guess I won’t spare you. Heh)

An overly updated Bucco Bruce, which is going to SUCK.

Or, what would be even more infuriating

They'll put out a GREAT looking set, but will stick with their same current logo, and they’ll be very close to looking great, but have the entire thing dragged down by that garbage updated logo.

Haha!! 😆

Fergie threw MORE INT's in 1984 than he did in any prior season and was gone from the Bills by the start of the 1985 season, so much for the colored helmet helping him out.

When going to the red helmets the Bills left the facemask royal blue which never right. Finally by the 1986 season the white facemask made its debut.

JETS:  my take is that I like the 'Gotham' green alot, but a football on the helmet logo decal?  They blew it, should have been a jet plane. The jersey stripes bug me because it makes it look like they have a cape attached to the back of their jerseys.

I'm okay w/ the black outline trim, but not a black jersey or pants.

the NEW YORK wordmark below the NFL-100 shield?   Any team copying the failed and jumbo 'CLEVELAND' look is not a wise move. Really really dumb.

J-E-T-S have always been good about not wearing the same color socks as their pants, and that's about to be broken when they wear their green or black pants ... they need white socks with the green pants, and NOT black socks if they actually wear those black pants.

NFL needs to change the rules and allow teams to tweak their uniforms AFTER the first season of a uniform change.  Look at Tennessee last season w/ those black numbers on the Columbia blue jerseys, you cannot make out those jersey numbers when watching on TV. Tennessee needs many more tweaks in addition to fixing those jersey numbers on the Columbia Blue jerseys, so I guess they gotta wait another 5 years for that.  I hear the NFL is letting the Titans make the white outline of those black numbers thicker for this season, but that's about it.

Other than 1963 the Jets have never really heavily (or at all) incorporated any sort of jet plane imagery into their branding. So this is keeping in step with what they've always done and I'm fine with that.

Regarding the "New York"...I kind of like it. And if you remember the whole uniform unveil was hardcore New York centric. Usually the Jets and the Giants sort of pander to both states but the Jets all out embrace of NY has had some speculating that they're going to make another attempt at building a NY stadium

I like the green shells but the rest is just so bland...it really feels like a catalog template that could have been created with an online uniform builder...the clip art helmet logo brings it down even more.

Alright, I'll be the one to say it: A New York team named the Jets, with white numbers in that font, probably shouldn't be using the number 11.

Great looking uni matchup. Good to see the Saints' gold pants are still alive!

You’re probably the only one making that connection, though I  do hate 1s that don’t have the little hook on the top.

I guess 9 is out of the question too then. Anyways I agree with BBTV that you are probably the only person making that connection.

No in game photos, guys?

I'll share a few that show the vast differences in color Appearance

How does one helmet look brighter than the others a mere 2 inches apart?

I can't say that I'm a fan. The color range will almost always force the green on the jersey to never match.

Anyone seen these in person?

Has there ever been a NFL helmet that has so many shades, based on lighting conditions? Maybe I'm overlooking things.

I feel the opposite after having seen these photos. The green matches as well as it possibly could considering the metallic finished helmet and the matter jerseys. Esp compared to their last set.

Also, as someone noted a while back, we have the ability to differentiate greens better than any other color.

11 in the Jets' font reminded him of the Twin Towers.

The 9 probably doesn't.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I can't wait for the Titans and Jets to revert to white helmets in 4 years and we can forget this crummy period of misguided rebranding.

Finally saw the new Jets look in action. (green over white) The best thing I can say about it is that they came close to coming up with a decent new look. (I think they should stick with the Namath era look. Period)

I give it a C+. I like the helmet, the colors look good, number font looks solid, the word mark on the jersey ain't great but could be worse, but the weird striping just kills the whole thing. Fix the "stripes for stripes sake" and this would be a decent uniform for a team that didn't have any other option (expansion/relocation) but the Jets have a much better option and another pretty decent option. Significant downgrade.
