Because of the need for alternate uniforms, and with black and grey being neutral colors they are the easiest to add to a color scheme without clashing with the rest of the colors. In fairness, the Jets did use black as an outline in their set prior to the current one. That said, I fully expect the Jets to do something like green outlines on black numbers and the black alternate will look like a recolored 49ers black jersey because the Jets gonna Jet. Preferably not the 90’s one with the Black accents. I wouldn’t mind if they had the 1994 Fauxback, but that is just their current/former set with a green lid. If if they could make the helmet silver (which I think would look great for the eagles) then silver or green pants for both sets.
