Thanks for bringing back memories that took years of therapy to repress 🤣.  My cars were the true embodiment of all things Jets.  Looked good on paper but couldn't execute, last place, wheels falling off halfway down the ramp... Those were the days!

1 year of candy purple for me. didnt win anything, but it was pimp AF

Wow, it does look like a pinewood derby car. One of mine was solid green, too - a tiny bit darker than that logo but just a bit.

So did I. Bright green shaped like that triangle. I thought it was going to kick ass but instead it was too light and flew off the track.

What else did he say? I didn't listen to the audio.

nothing else. ethan greenberg (who co-hosts the jets-produced 'jets360' )doesn't talk about it in his interview. paul esden is the host of the podcast, and he said:

"personally, my guess, and people in the building that i know that can say anything, or people around the team, is that it seems like it's going to be that old school '80s with a modern twist. that's kinda what i've heard. that's the kind of feel i'm getting for this new uniform."

this isn't a shot at esden, because he does a really nice job hosting the podcast, but i wouldn't necessarily put a ton of faith into that. he flat out says that part of it is a "feel" he's getting. it could just be inferences he has drawn, or it could be he has actual sources on background that have told him something legit. ultimately it's encouraging, but take it with a grain of salt.

I would love the number font to match that logo font.

They would need a condensed version of it. There’s no way you could get 10/12 in. out of it at the current proportions.

A condensed version would look quite a bit like the Steelers.

In short, it won’t work very well.

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

were you starting to feel good about the jets unis? okay, well here's something to make you worry. this is from the athletic's connor hughes in a Q&A for the site yesterday:

"The couple players I talked to who have seen them described them as "sick" and "awesome" and "dope." It's a complete redesign — colors, logo, etc."

soooooo who knows. but it sounds like there's at least something in there for the [FLAME EMOJIS] crowd.

It is possible that the players have good taste, too. I mean, it was a Jets player (whose name escapes me) that posted that 80's inspired concept last year

Jamal Adams. IIRC, he used flame emojis too. Perhaps the only time flame emojis have been used on Twitter with a picture of a good uniform. Unsurprisingly, it was only a concept.

IIRC:

in 2013 the Jags players were quoted as saying their new uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

in 2014 the Bucs players were quoted as saying their new uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

in 2002 the Bills players were quoted as saying their new uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

in 2015 the Browns players were quoted as saying their new uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

in 2006 the Vikings players were quoted as saying their new uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

in 2014 the 49ers players were quoted as saying their new Color Rush uniforms were "dope" and "sick."

Players having taste? Don't bet on it...

I'm guessing:

vbtLbte.png

Kind of an olive, borderline military green.

AR-181229670.jpg&MaxH=500&MaxW=900

Only mildly unique numerals, with some stylish flairs (something similar to the subtle ISU uniforms above).

usatsi_9500508.jpg?w=1000&h=600&crop=1

Similar to the Vikings remodeling - black facemask, matte helmet

And an all-black 'Stealth Fighter' color-rush type bullcrap alternate, complete with black helmet.

Unless I missed something, the one-helmet rule is still in effect. The new color has been announced as "sport green" and from what I've seen online is a saturated shade a bit darker than Kelly, although the Jets could have their own definition. Fwiw, the color used on the front of their "2019 branding guide" looked very similar to the color they used for their Color Rush look the past few years.

The helmet is probably glossy or satin in finish, not matte, based on the reflection coming from it in the teaser pic.

We have heard rumblings of a black alternate uniform, and I could totally see them trying to give it a military theme.

pretty sure #'s are standardized heights for front/back per league rules

Actually, unless I'm missing the relevant rule, there seems to be more leeway on this than you'd expect. Rule 5, Section 4, Article 3 (b);

Quote

Numerals on the back and front of jerseys in accordance with Rule 5, Section 1, Article 2. Such
numerals must be a minimum of 8 inches high and 4 inches wide, and their color must be in sharp
contrast with the color of the jersey. Smaller numerals should be worn on the tops of the shoulders or
upper arms of the jersey. Small numerals on the back of the helmet or on the uniform pants are
optional.

Although I've always thought the standard is 12-inch back, 10-inch front, 4-inch shoulders, 3-inch NOB.
