Of those trips, here's how it breaks down (not including this season since that series is still going on): Did Not Qualify - 6 Out in the 1st Round - 7 Out in the 2nd Round - 9 Out in the Conference Finals - 3 Stanley Cup Finals - 1 (Lost) Of these playoff trips, 16 of them end in the first two rounds... they are the hockey equivalent to Gonzaga basketball. Mostly because I wanted to know, here are the Ducks and Kings since the Sharks began, with the Ducks playing two less seasons. I did include this season though because neither team made the playoffs. Ducks: 14 playoff appearances Did Not Qualify - 11 Out in the 1st Round - 6 Out in the 2nd Round - 3 Out in the Conference Finals - 3 Stanley Cup Finals - 2 (1-1) Kings: 13 playoff appearances Did Not Qualify - 14 Out in the 1st Round - 8 Out in the 2nd Round - 1 Out in the Conference Finals - 1 Stanley Cup Finals - 3 (2-1)
AustinFromBoston
Really kind of just a slow ugly game for both teams. But the breaks just went Toronto's way this time. Although Bruins being 0-3 on PP is just inexcusable. 43 minutes ago, Brass said: There is something to be said when an organization has three consecutive picks in an absolutely loaded draft and only one of them is suited up for an important playoff game. Sharks blow 3-0 lead to Kings 2. Top seeded Sharks lose to Ducks in first round
IceCap
That was an ugly game, but I'll take it. Close it out at home boys, I can't handle another game seven against the Bruins. habsfan1
So Tampa Bay set 2 records: - The first being the highest amount of points for a team in regular season history. - Then they set another record for 1st ever President's Trophy winner to not get a single playoff win. It's like what it going on??? Just incredible how such a talented team cannot in any way crank up to that next gear. I'm not even talking about cranking it up to max, like you're about to face the final boss of the toughest video game. I'm talking about making it through level 1 to level 2. They fall apart in game 1 of the playoffs, after the first little shred of adversity comes their way. Really?

AustinFromBoston
Poor Calgary. Fans must have been so relived when the Lighting got swept. I knew there was a reason I didn't trust them 1 bit in the playoffs.

infrared41
And just like that, both #1 seeds have been taken down by # 8 seeds. And both #1 seeds got their asses handed to them in the process. Also, Mike Smith, Ladies and Gentlemen. Coming off the momentum of his shutout in game one, Smith caught fire and held Colorado to just 17 goals in the next four games. Funny game, this hockey. Red Wolf
Wins and losses in the NHL don't matter, much like the WWE. 4 minutes ago, SFGiants58 said: Better yet - re-merge with the Dallas Stars! Just make sure you're one of the 52% of teams that make the playoffs, but the seeding doesn't really matter. The playoffs are a new season (a thing that's said of the NBA, but actually true of the NHL). The Lightning hadn't lost three games in-a-row in the regular season and then get swept in the playoffs. It's like when Jinder Mahal jobbed for months and then won like three matches to become WWE Champion. Except I'd be interested in seeing the Blue Jackets or Avalanche win it all. That’s the three biggest rivals the Sharks will ever have and they’ve been flat out embarrassed by all three with zero real redemption. I can’t have an ounce of respect a team like that. JackieMoon
I think the Flames' loss is bigger than Tampa's. They lost to a team who was basically ranked ninth. The Jackets were technically ranked fifth. SMH, NHL playoff seeding is a joke.
