@dfwabel What are you hearing about the Lakers GM search? Simmons and Rusillo said Bob Myers is an option but that seems unlikely to me.

The three outside names I hear are just the ones other than Myers kicked around: Presti, Ujiri, and Olshey. Don't count out Kurt Rambis due to Jeanie Buss' relationship with his wife and how insular the Lakers seem to keep themselves.

Lakers insularity is killing them.

I’ve got an unpopular take:

Damian Lillard’s game winner, as amazing as it was, was an example of absolutely awful basketball. Yes, I’ve seen the stats showing his insane percentage from that range, and all the props go to him for making it in the clutch with a hand in his face, but that doesn’t change the fact that the entire possession was an absolute embarrassment to the game of basketball. Ten players on the court just slowly jog into position, and then stand there, and stand there, and stand there, the whole time while Lillard dribbles out the clock before making the shot. Not one screen, no attempt to drive, and not even an off-ball cut to the basket. Yes he made it. And yes his percentage from that range is great. But there’s no reason to not even attempt to get a better look than that, especially to the point of the entire team just standing in place with no real plan.

But again, no disrespect to Dame, hell of a shot by a great player, I just think the final possession was very low-quality basketball

I agree with this, they broke it down on SC, and basically all they said was everyone including the coach was disinterested standing there and some weren’t even watching the play. It was everything that was wrong with today’s iso basketball.

the first round should not take this long.

I like basketball so I'd rather see more than less. Really don't understand this take at all.

Think it's more about the two days' rest between lots of first-round games than the series themselves running long.

But there have been two to four games every night, including tonight. I prefer tonight (two) to last night (four) anyway.

EDIT: Ingles blows these playoffs.

This Warriors/Clips game is a gotdamn track meet. Clips should think about moving to Oakland instead of Inglewood; they play awesome at Oracle.

I planted my flag for Montrezl Harrell the moment he entered the league and I'll always stan for the guy. He's just the best.

K, THIS is where I meant to put this.

Have you ever had a time where you ended up dating the most beautiful and popular girl you know, and despite the accolades and praise that comes with that (popularity, clout, etc) you end up getting to the point where you’re just SO goddamn sick of her and all the baggage that comes along with it?

Thats kinda what this Warriors team feels like at times. I’m actually starting to wonder if they would play better, or in the very least be more fun to watch, if Durant ends up leaving.

I don't need to hear Warriors fans complaining. Nope, not interested. You're Boston-level now and no one cares. Sorry.

Also, you pay $5,000 grand for lower bowl seats, you can sit out the last damned minute of the game. Embarrassing.

I can't see them dropping the next two (But I couldn't in the 2016 Finals, either), but I legitimately think Houston has a VERY good shot this time around, and that's the first time I've actually felt that way since this run started. The Rockets seem to absolutely want blood this time around, are still a VERY good team, and this Warriors team just seems to have a really difficult time mustering up the energy/cooperation to grind out a series like that. It may be just that they've played so many games in the past five years that they're both physically and mentally exhausted, but it seems a lot more like they're just absolutely sick of each other. Despite the success, it's like everyone seems really frustrated and stifled in some ways. I get it, to an extent, but it's one of the strangest side effects I've ever seen a team on this kind of run ever have. This feels a bit like the waining moments of the Kobe Shaq Lakers. It's almost like this kind of tension is just unavoidable.

But apparently I'm not allowed to point even that much out for fear I'll offend the weird sensibilities of some people

The "my team is just the best!" combined with "you need to hear my trauma!" is a Boston sports fan special that has been roundly hated for a generation.

Part of rooting for an all-time great team is being gracious in victory and defeat; Brass does this really well in the NFL threads with the Pats.

You can say whatever you want. I'm just helpfully pointing out how it comes off. Which is poorly.
