Nashville and Columbus are probably who I should be a fan of considering my region but I’ve found my self interested in the Knights due to the fact their brand new. Anyone got any idea which I should pick? Columbus could probably sustain the success of last year assuming they make the right moves, but they're probably going to regress. The Knights had a monster first season, winning the West and playing for the Cup. They bowed out in the first round last year, managing to out-Shark the Sharks. This is a big deal because after that highly successful first season they made some moves with a "WIN NOW" mindset that didn't pan out. They'll likely remain a playoff team for a year or two but the wheels are going to fall off sooner rather than later. That's all if you want to base your decision on immediate success. Which often isn't all that goes into these decisions. The best advice when getting into a new league/sport where you don't have an obvious home town team is to just watch some games and see who you end up gravitating towards. Between these three? Yup, that's the one and only reason. Tbh with you, I'd be perfectly fine with an english-only speaking GM. I'm totally fine with french. I'm bilingual. But when I see a scenario where there are no top francophone candidates currently available, I'm like just get a english person. I watch New Japan wrestling and animé in Japanese with subs, I don't understand nothing, but the voices are so lively and authentic, the foreign dialogue doesn't stop me from enjoying the show. Maybe not the best example to compare, but my point is I just want the best possible team. At one point, fans wanted to fire Therrien for forever. Habs kept saying nah we can't cause of this and that. The second Julien was released from the Bruins, Therrien instantly fired, Julien instantly brought in as Therrien's replacement. Therrien and Julien have both been coming in and out on a loop, for what now has become multiple years. This is also the same team that thinks Carey Price is currently worth 15 million dollars a year. Clutch performer and Cup winner with the St. Louis Blues, Jordan Binnington, just signed for 4.5 mil. The next Winter Olympics are in Beijing earlier that year. “Based on the current state of the game and the business of the game, the NHL believes it is essential to continue building upon the momentum we have created with our players,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement issued by the league. “It is our hope that a continued sustained period of labor peace will enable us to further grow the game and benefit all constituent groups.” The players, however, have concerns, notably regarding the escrow issue, Olympic participation and the split of hockey-related revenue. The NHL and NHLPA are in agreement on wanting more international competition and are in talks about holding another World Cup of Hockey as early as February 2021. The NHLPA executive board is scheduled to meet in Chicago on Wednesday. The league and union have been meeting through the summer and those discussions are scheduled to continue. Escrow is a major concern for the players, according to a majority of union representatives surveyed by The Associated Press and Canadian Press last spring. The current CBA has owners and players dividing hockey-related revenue 50/50, and if player salaries exceed that split a certain percentage is withheld in escrow to make it even. Besides being old, he is a consistent 50+ point scorer when healthy and seems like a great mentor figure in the locker room. Slot the guy on line 3 and watch him do what he does. The Sharks have been a running irritant in the hockey fandom world for years. Despite being a very successful regular season team, they always flame out in the playoffs. Also the franchise declaring that they have the best fans in hockey didn't help either and generally being in Silicon Valley pisses people off. I think blowing the 3-0 lead buried the superiority complex once and for all. Now it's Predators fans who can't get enough of themselves. Also, isn’t it a norm for pro teams to say they have the best fans in the sport? What’s an organization going to say? “Eh our fans do pretty well, but are still behind others”. I’m curious to know what is wrong with the Silicon Valley. Being removed from the Bay Area I have not felt any negativity towards it from people I’ve met. Is it the argument regarding hockey not belonging where it doesn’t snow? I always haven’t really understood that... anyway, I’m more curious about the Joe Thornton comments considering they were made by people who I’m pretty sure are local.
