joelederer Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I'm in a wood-bat adult baseball team in Vancouver and after 15 years as the Big Blue (ugh), we're looking to refresh our team name, logo, jerseys, etc. I came up with the unanymously-approved Maple Bats, a play on the maple wood baseball bats some of use use and the Canadian icon maple leaf. Now I'm not a graphic designer by any means, just mocked up some ideas in Photoshop. Wanted to get feedback on which logo concept works best (and see if anyone wanted to take their crack at improving it!) Thanks in advance!
walkerws Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I like B because you see the bat and then you see the Maple leaf. But if you're looking for an even split, then C. A is too abstract and D wouldn't be able to physically fly I wouldn't think.

D looks like he's been hit with buckshot for getting in the attic.
HRC4 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 B is my favorite by far. The leaves seem more intrusive in the other ones.
Ridleylash Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 B is the cleanest of them, definitely. It incorporates the leaf into a place where it feels pretty natural and it looks good, so I'd definitely go with B.
freddamnrock Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I like B. A looks deformed but I see the Maple Bat. I will say, t works as a silhouette. C and D automatically look like the bat got shot or ripped up. I like the use of negative space but the bat just doesn't look whole.
joelederer Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 Thank you for the feedback, everyone...the team was split between A and B. I think we'll go with a variation of B moving forward. Much appreciated, forum!
appleclock Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 B is nice but I find an upside down maple leaf to be disrespectful. Just saying. Maybe I’m having memories of the 1992 World Series incident.
vtgco Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 C is the best by a mile, IMO. B is second but it still feels a bit awkward going from curvy bat wings to jagged leaf as part of the same line. Clever team name! I think a dark brown and/or tan color scheme might work well here!
hutchins75 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 C is my vote. The upside down leaf in B is not immediately apparent.
Guest darkpiranha Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Of the ones you have, C is clearly the best, however, I still don't think you've nailed it yet. It feels like there's still one or two variations possible, out of the box. There's enough similar shapes in both the leaf and the bat that something that ties the two together is still out there, potentially.
TheYellowWolfMC Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 C is my favorite. I don't like A or D HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
