New Logos, Uniforms for Golden State Warriors in 2020

In the very least, I hope the Warriors keep the spirit of their current set. The logo on the front I think is a great look, it has some history behind it. and it sets them apart from everyone else. I mean, they could switch to just having a word mark on the front like everyone else, like they used to have, but I think that would be pretty underwhelming.

Love or hate the current look (I love it, personally. Although I can admit it has its flaws), it’s relatively iconic at this point due to the recent success. Completely changing directions at this point seems like a mistake.

The way the letter A in Bay fits on top of the circle feels either forced or was an afterthought.

It's odd how the B and the Y are behind the circle, but the A overlaps the circle. And why didn't they put the serifs on the upper left of the "BAY" letters, like the main logo?

And the graphic the UniWatch posted looks incredibly fuzzy compared to the older one...but the newer one does show just how bad the older one was.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Keeping the Town logo is just disingenuous pandering.  It's a bit tone deaf to essentially think that the SF/OAK rivalry doesn't exist when you leave for a spiffy new arena on the other side.  Then again, with the "Golden State" moniker being from when they tried to claim the Bay Area and San Diego at the same time I'm not at all surprised that they would keep that up.

The Nets might as well make a Garden State alternate if this is the path we're going down.

The new alternate logo reminds me of the old Horizons Pavilion from Epcot.

That's a good call. It also reminds me of Saved by the Bell for some reason. Gives me an early-1990s SoCal vibe even though the Warriors are NorCal.

Maybe if you make that joke a third time it'll become funny.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

Upgrades! The set is fantastic as is (overuse of alts aside) and these are good moves. The font was generic, so nice to adjust that. Plus less cables means it looks less like pinstripes and pinstripes tend to be ugly as :censored: IMO (case in point below).

I would've been fine with their current set had it had a decent yellow alternate. The white and blue are both strong. The font doesn't bother me as much as it does some on here. But this yellow - ugh, it sucks. It looks like, with the striped shorts and the plain jersey, that they were trying to do the inverse of the OG Hornets. Those Hornets unis can't be replicated though.

When GS pretty much dumped these and made the charcoal their main alt, that didn't feel right either. Yellow has always been one of their colors and they need a jersey in it. They just need a better one than this mismatched headache.

I hope this leads to new uniforms that do not have a giant circle on the primary white and blue uniforms.

If they get rid of the circle on the jerseys the update would be downgrade, the warriors have some of if not the best uniforms in the league rn, especially with all the Nike shenanigans. No (exceptionality) bad uniforms. On top of that they’ve won 3 titles with those uniforms so it would be a shame to trash em

The circular logo on the jersey is about as iconic to a team as it gets, really. It’s something that harkens back to the original San Francisco days, and it’s representative of one of the greatest runs in NBA history. People already had a desire to see it return, as the original yellow “The City” throwbacks have ALWAYS been extremely popular, and when it was brought back it was what was worn during the best era of Warriors basketball of all time. Plus, I think it looks REALLY cool.

Getting rid of the roundel on the jerseys would be a terrible idea.

Agreed. I don't like the idea of honoring the 1997-2010 sets (despite We Believe) or the Run-TMC period. Relative to the recent run, those teams didn't have the same significance. Would you rather honor one the best years of the franchise:

...or when the team had a brief peak (i.e., winning a solitary playoff series)/their Basketball Sentai Warrioranger period?

While I have nostalgia for the 1997-2010 set, they never really did much in them. We Believe was nice and all, but it doesn't compare to an NBA championship. I get that the roundel period has bad times associated with it (googles "NBA and cocaine"), but the good outweighs the bad here. People are more likely to talk about Andre Iguodala or Rick Barry than they are Chris Washburn.

I wouldn't mind the roundel if it had California (you know, the "Golden State" the team name refers to), rather than a bridge that extends across the bay. I understand why they use the bridge, and it'd be fine if they were the "San Francisco" Warriors (which they should be, but putting together the greatest team ever kinda ruined that chance), but if you try to claim the whole state, you better use that whole state. Additionally, using CA actually throws back to the era the current set is trying to emulate, except it does it better, mostly because it doesn't have the stupid pinstripe/bridge cable striping on the shorts. Also, the sets they used from 71-89 (according to the mothership) used the roundel and only used the nickname of the team, which is a plus. Personally, I'd have "Warriors" on the whites and "Golden State" on the coloreds, but just using the nickname alone is superior to having the full name in tiny font on the jerseys. They should just use the 1985-87 sets a base, making the roundel yellow on the blues and blue on the whites, like the current set, and getting rid of the "Warriors" script on the shorts, in favor of simple striping.

I, too, would have preferred a return to "San Francisco Warriors". But I don't get why you say that the team's signing of so many good players precludes its taking of that better name.

If you are saying that they couldn't change the locality name after having won championships, consider the Angels and Marlins, both of whom did just that.

I was mostly referring to the championships won under the name, as well as the brand recognizability other teams could only dream of with the Golden State name, making it all but impossible to rebrand. Winning all these championships and having simply unprecedented success kinda forever ingrains a team's name, making a switch to San Francisco not just unlikely, but actually stupid, giving up all that brand recognition. I guarantee that if the Warriors had sucked for the past few years instead of winning so much, we'd be talking about the rebranded San Francisco Warriors this year instead of a simple slight upgrade to an okay logo.
