Teams that don’t wear a color that’s on their logo?

The Steelers were always a prime example of this for me. The red and blue diamonds are prominent in their logo, but it is not in their color system. Just the yellow. What gives?

Its because the logo is a modification of the steelmark logo.  The three hypocycloids on the logo represent the three materials used to produce steel, with yellow for coal, orange for iron ore and blue for scrap steel.

Also on this point, the black and gold uniforms predated the adoption of the logo by about 30 years.

All this to prove that I don't think it really matters so long that the logo looks good on the shirt/jersey

The Eagles have a small amount of silver in their pants stripes, don't they? Or does that show multiple shades of silver?

Also, didn't the Royals start using small amounts of metallic gold trim, or was that just several of the posts in our Concepts forum?

Both their home and away numbers also have silver on them, no?

If we're counting alternates, the red-era Pirates had two different red alternates (the Turn Ahead the Clock and another hideous one in the mid 2000s). The wordmark on their black alternates also had a red outline. They had a cap with the P having a red outline as well.

It wasn't an every game thing, but they did wear red. It's the same thing as the 49ers; they don't wear black every game but they do have black alternates.

No.  The helmet wing and sleeve logo use silver, the numbers and pants stripe use charcoal.  I'm pretty sure they,re supposed to be two different colors.

Wow, I had no idea the Eagles were using charcoal in addition to silver--no wonder the numbers look so murky. The Eagles swapping the charcoal in the numbers for silver would be an improvement.
