Mike McCarthy.

I hate the Packers and when they fired him I was sad.

I hate the Cowboys and when they hired him I was happy.

Can't wait for Zeke to average 6-7 carries per game.

Eat :censored:, Pats fans. Go live in the woods and never talk to any of us again. Your time is :censored:ing done.

That was the first thing that came to my mind after the interception at the tail end of the game.  LOL  Now I can finally possibly see my dream AFC title matchup of Jackson vs Mahomes or Watson.

So the Saints players are wanting to change the rules to allow challenges after 2 minutes because of the maybe pass interference on the game winning play. Give it a rest you can’t have the rules changed for you every time after a loss. They are also making fools of themselves because the play was reviewed anyways they just didn’t like the result.

Sean Payton’s tears make me feel so good.

In 2009, in the NFC championship game, this particular piece of human garbage…

spacer.png

...offered the players on the New Orleans defense cold hard cash to take multiple cheap shots at the Vikings’ quarterback’s ankles and knees.  Which they gleefully did (and bragged about it after the game), while the refs stood by with their thumbs and whistles stuffed up their asses. Want to argue? You can argue with the NFL’s investigative findings and this video…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPZCVCZNc50&t=78s

This dirty program was abetted and condoned by this d-bag…

...for which he and Greg “scumbag” Williams were each was suspended by the NFL.  The fact that Williams was let back in at all is criminal.

As far as I’m concerned, the Saints can never have enough painfully heartbreaking playoff losses.  Each one is well deserved, and the fact that they’ve had three in a row jammed down their throats, and two of those three have been handed to them courtesy of the Vikings, just warms my heart.

As long as Payton is still in charge of that team, I’ll keep hating them.

Mike McCarthy...not that much of an improvement over Jason Garrett.

Lol, McCarthy is basically just a glorified Dave Campo who got lucky enough to coach a good quarterback.

Not just a good quarterback. One that is arguably the most talented person to ever throw a football.

He has one ring to show for it.... one. McCarthy is a joke that no real GM would have taken seriously after a token interview. Suffice to say, I'm not at all surprised that Jerrah was the one to hire him.

Personally, I don't see a lot of positives, especially when the only other candidate interviewed was Marvin Lewis.  And they also allowed McCarthy to talk to other teams before meeting with him.

Here are the two reasons for optimism.

And to be correct, Pete is on NFL job #3.

Yeah, I'm not sure about McCarthy in Dallas, but I'll take anyone over The Crimson Clapper right now.

Don't be surprised if Jim Haslett runs the defense as the cast of NFLN's "The McCarthy Project" will likely join him at The Star.  Frank Cignetti to be QB coach or OC, and Scott McCurley as LB coach.  Haslett or Mike Nolan, since Nolan's pops was on the staff under Johnson.

Cignetti was hired as BC's OC.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that most Packers fans are as ecstatic as you right now.  At least the Vikings finally learned not to go all in on past their prime ex-Packers.

What's the general consensus on the Clowney play?  Locally, among writers / radio, I'm hearing it pretty much split.  Everyone agrees it should have been 15 yards (which wouldn't have really changed anything), but it's 50/50 as to whether it was dirty.  IMO, it looked like he turned his head specifically to spear Wentz.  Others see it that he turned his head to avoid him, and it really was incidental.

I'm really hoping it's not considered dirty, and it's just my inner bias showing through, because I'd like to root for the Seahawks the rest of the way, but can't if that's how they won.

Either way, Torrey Holt and Josina Anderson are jagoffs for criticizing Wentz for "it's always something with him..."  The guy got speared in the head, was the only 100% healthy guy all year, and wasn't even allowed to play, whether he wanted to or not.  Josina Anderson is a total clown and has done nothing but made baseless accusations and quoted 'sources' for stories that I'm convinced she makes up out of thin air.

Pretty dirty IMO. It doesn’t seem like Clowney was committed to anything when he should have still been going after Wentz full force. I think he could have gotten his arms in there at the last minute to keep it from being an unnecessary, one of the worst things you can do to another player on the field. I think I’m a fairly big proponent of “almost down or almost out isn’t down/out”, but this still seems pretty sleazy to me.

Not shocking as there were six still Power 5 OC jobs unfilled prior to BC hiring him yesterday, plus Boise State, UCF, Memphis and UNLV being open.

Apparently Carson Wentz took himself out of the game despite being cleared, because he knew something was wrong and that it’d be a risk to try and play through a head injury. I hope an anvil falls on Clowney’s stupid head and that he gets suspended for 48 games, but good on Wentz for having the guts to recognize his future - both on and off field- were at risk.

Understand: No one forced Wentz to leave the game. No one. In a statement released Monday, Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, acknowledged that, according to “the independent certified athletic trainer spotters and unaffiliated neurotrauma consultants monitoring the game,” neither Wentz nor Clowney “seemed to exhibit behavior or symptoms suggestive of concussion” after Clowney speared Wentz in the back of the head.”

So either Wentz got really hurt & they don’t know about it, or he quit on his team in the middle of a playoff game.

i don’t think for a second that he quit. That’s ridiculous.

Yea you might be able to pass the sideline concussion tests, but still have a concussion. I got one in high school, I instantly knew I was in no condition to continue play and sat the rest of the game and most of the practices the next week, probably should have sit longer but this was before we knew about the dangers of concussions. I could have probably passed a test because I was mostly there but head was ringing bad.

I haven't seen it reported anywhere else, and I think it'd be the kind of thing that everyone would have an opinion about, so I'm calling BS on that story and going back to the thought that while he probably felt it was the right thing, he was told that he was out.
