I guess you can say there's no misery in Missouri?

I'll just leave.

That joke sucked. But Ryan Fitzpatrick should get a ring too. Thanks for beating the Pats because I doubt this would've happened if not for that comeback.

Speaking as someone who quit following the NFL when the scabs came in, and who hasn't watched a Super Bowl in its entirety since the Giants' first one in January of 1987, I can say that I enjoyed this game.  But I didn't watch it; I listened to it on Kansas City's local radio on KCFX-FM The Fox.  Local radio is the way that I have experienced plenty of Grey Cups; but this was the first time I did it with a Super Bowl.

While baseball is the quintessential radio sport, football on the radio is good also.  The natural stoppages after each play in football leave a lot of room for conversation; and, when the announcers are geared up and passionate, this is great fun to listen to.  For someone who is not well-informed on a team, listening to that team's radio broadcast for the pre-game and the game itself gives a great education.  And, when listening to the Super Bowl on the radio, the commercials you get are ones for restaurants in Kansas City, not the big-money TV ads.

The confidence of Andy Reid was the most impressive thing, as he twice went for it on 4th down in the first quarter.  The sealing touchdown run at the end, coming at a point in the game when most teams would be grinding out short yardage in an effort to keep the clock running, also spoke to this. Even when the Chiefs were behind in the game, one never got the feeling that they were really trailing.  That they won despite Mahomes throwing two interceptions (which he had not done in a game all year) is impressive.

I have become fascinated with Mahomes, due mainly to his baseball connection; and I really enjoyed his run to the title, which included a return from a potentially serious injury during the season.  It was very satisfying to see (hear) him lead his team to the championship.

Also, I love that he wears such a beautiful uniform.  You could look at the Chiefs and say "That is what a football uniform looks like."  Now let's hope that his team doesn't mess this uniform up by introducing panels or black or a custom number font or any other trendy garbage.  The Chiefs are the first decently-uniformed team to win the Super Bowl since the Giants' last win; and they are the best-dressed Super Bowl winner since the Rams after the 1999 season.  Of course, the Rams celebrated their title by screwing up their uniforms, ditching their signature bright colours for drab pukey ones; it would be a tragedy if the Chiefs followed this pattern and came out eventually with subdued maroon and gold in place of their glorious red and yellow.

OK, it's time for the XFL.

Yuck. It would be ironic if that happened considering they'd resemble that 49ers from 1996-2007. Still, don't give me nightmares like that.

Bears GM Ryan Pace probably after seeing Pat Mahomes after winning the Super Bowl: "Dear Mitchell Trubisky, I still love you no matter what.  I am your ride or die.  It's you and me forever."

Nah, I'm looking for the Eagles to break their 2-year streak of not winning a Super Bowl.

Andy Reid lost 4 NFC championship games, including 3 in a row, 2 at home, and 3 in which his team was favored (2 in which they were heavily favored.)  He also lost a very-winnable Super Bowl due to his (or his hand-picked golden-boy QB's) inability to call/run a 2-minute drill.

Can't take anything away from what he accomplished last night, but even including that, he's the worst big-game coach that I can think of.  The best thing he's done is convince the Eagles to hire Doug Pederson, who went on to win the game in his second year that his mentor couldn't win until his 21st.

To be fair... here's how we all felt about Doug Pederson at the time (NSFW... but one of EDP's finest meltdowns.  He's basically a black Tnak):

EDIT: except for the fact that EDP committed himself to losing some weight, he really is Black Tnak.  All that's missing is his cap falling down.

I’m really tired of the endless circle jerk for Andy Reid saying “everyone wanted him to win”, and “there is not a single person that wanted him to lose” well I’m one of those people. He’s a horrible person that deserves nothing but failure. And people calling mahomes performance last night a “hall of fame performance” how? Dude was mediocre at best most of the game, ended strong but I really don’t think his stats or play was that strong overall. He probably has a 95% chance at making the Hall of fame, but last night is not what did it, it was his play last year and how he’ll probably continue to play at an MVP level for the rest of his career.

I don't know how you can watch that game last night and not think that what Mahomes did in the fourth quarter was short of incredible.

It was the Super Bowl, and that third-year QB shook off two bad INTs and essentially was perfect the rest of the way.

He played really well in that 4th quarter, but was average at best before that.  At the end of the day, the 4th quarter is what mattered so he deserves a ton of credit, but people are going a little overboard with it.

Damien Williams deserved the MVP IMO. But Mahomes is the quarterback and the MVP vote is biased towards QBs. Heck, isn't even close to being the worst QB performance to win MVP. See Tom Brady in his 1st SB win.

I heard a lot of people saying Damien Williams should have been the MVP after they said it was Mahomes. I think the difference may just be that it was clearly the passing game that actually brought them back, even if Williams played a big game. To a degree I almost think Sammy Watkins deserved the SB MVP title, as he consistently was the one receiver able to get open before their offense got into a rhythm. But then again, if a WR does well enough to get the MVP, then naturally the QB is the one who got it to him in the first place.

Agreed. Without Williams running, that Niners D-line would have had more of a field day than it already was having. Williams kept the Niners just honest enough to allow Mahomes the little time he had. No one thought KC would be able to run at all on SF.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there wasn't one penalty called on either offensive line for holding? Come on!!

Why is that a bad thing? I'd get being upset if one team got called a bunch and the other didn't, but other than a offensive PI call that could have gone either way, I thought the officials did a really solid job. They let the teams play and we got a pretty solid game. Less penalties the better if you ask me.

I was reflecting that last night seemed to really move along at a nice clip and it absolutely had everything to do with the refs staying out of it. It was a well played game with minimal officiating breaks. Kind of the way it should be.

I’m bummed the Niners lost, because they’re the local team and everyone I know is pretty sad today.

I definitely take solace in knowing a good portion of the reason why they lost is because Richard Sherman got exposed, though. All he did was talk trash for weeks leading up to this, got into it with Revis (who was right, btw), and then found a way to lose another game for the 49ers (this time while actually a member of the 49ers).

I used to think I didn’t like Richard Sherman because he was on the Seahawks. Now I’m pretty sure I don’t like Richard Sherman because I don’t like Richard a Sherman.

I really hope he goes away soon.
