A lifetime ban? That is a bit of an overreaction. Suh and Haynesworth immediately come to mind as players who did really stupid :censored:. There have been plenty of others over the years. I'm not defending Myles Garrett, but Rudolph went after him first and was taking swings when Garrett went full moron and swung the helmet. No idea if that will play a role. It shouldn't because cracking a player in the head with his own helmet kinda trumps everything else, but you never know. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if Garrett is suspended for the rest of the season. In any case, it's an embarrassment to the Browns and to Browns fans. Garrett deserves what's coming to him. He ruined an otherwise great night for the Browns.

Fair enough, lol. Probably could’ve worded it better, definitely an exaggeration on my part.

I agree. Heat of the moment and that dude was reaching for similar and saying maybe worse. None of these guys are angels. I'm glad Mason Rudolph's brains weren't splattered on TV, and if guys can throw their girlfriends down stairs and still play pro ball, Myles Garrett ought to be able to play again. I mean, it's not like he's protesting police brutality or anything.

Outstanding. Cracked me up. Well done.

In a league where guys like like LeSean McCoy and half the other Chief’s players are welcome, just cool off about a dude getting pissed and at least swinging at a man and not a woman.

Let's not forget the Browns own Kareem Hunt who kicked a woman on camera. But Garrett is public enemy #1, right? The NFL is an ass.

And you don't? I wish I had your willpower. Well that, and I have a podcast I have to do every week which will once again have more Cleveland Browns talk than anyone should have to endure. Especially me.  :upside:

Yeah, because this is the exception. Now if this happened in all 16 games every week? Hell no. But fortunately it’s a rare occurrence. And if you don’t watch this “trash league” how come you’re here commenting on it?

Well, I’m mostly kidding, but I haven’t had cable in almost a year now, so it’s not that hard for me to avoid 🤷‍♂️ I still watch a good amount of sports, but I have to do an annoying amount of work to access most of it now (Bootleg streaming sites, and such). The NFL hasn’t really compelled me to do that like other sports have.

But in all seriousness, it’s legitimately something new every single week with this league. There’s just a certain stench attached to it that I feel like no other league has. The diversity of the problems the NFL has right now is kind of staggering.  I’m sort of starting to wonder when the breaking point is.

I didn’t even realize there was a game on tonight until I saw the replay on Twitter.

What makes this so abhorrent to me is the fact he Garret basically used a piece of sport equipment as a weapon, like physically took it off & beat him with it.

I know guys like Suh & Burfict have far dirtier histories, but I don't recall them ever doing anything like that.

It's not the first time and it won't be the last. Believe me, I've seen a lot of nonsense in the NFL in all the years I've been watching. This seems like a really big deal because it's the latest big deal, but I've seen worse - most of it off the field and a woman is usually on the short end of it. Remember Ray Rice? Yeah, cracking a guy with his own helmet is bad, but is it really as "abhorrent" as watching a running back drag a woman on her face out of an elevator?

While I'm here, talk to an Admin about adding an R to Fom and fixing your screen name. Or did you do that on purpose? B)

Some dude could drop dead on the field in the second quarter, people would have their mouths open and looked shocked...but they'd stick around until the end of the game.

If WWE could finish a PPV after Owen Hart dropped dead (literally), people will sit through anything.

Yup. As I've said on BASS just a few less times than I've had to talk about the Browns, I have a real love/hate relationship with the NFL. I really wish I could say that I want to walk away and ignore it, but the truth is that I'm still an NFL fan. It takes some serious cognitive dissonance (if that's a proper use of the term) but I manage to make it work somehow.

There was a time when I thought it would take a dude dropping dead during a game to finally wake us up, but those days are long behind me. You're right, we'd all act concerned and the "thoughts and prayers" crowd would do their bit, but in the end, we'd all be thinking the same thing; "clear this guy off the field before you kill all the momentum." We NFL fans are some real barbarians.

I'm talking mainly on field stuff, off field is a whole other can of worms.

As for my name, yeah my dyslexia acted up and I haven't been sure how to change it.

What Garrett did tonight was pretty egregious, and he should be suspended for it. No question about it. But Mason Rudolph isn't a victim here. He's culpable too.

Rudolph will most likely get a fine for grasping the facemask (the standard for that action), but make no mistake, nothing Rudolph did justifies Garrett going complete ape- :censored: there at the end. I mean your beating your arch rival by double digits at home with 8 seconds left, why do you even feel the need to get involved with a scrum anyway? Aye that was bad.

He'll be out the rest of the year, Pouncey most likely a game, and Ogenjobi could be as well (for his late, blind-side slam of Rudolph). What a crap shoot that turned out to be.

This isn’t Marty McSorley level of assault.

The result is obviously different, but it's almost exactly the same. IMO there's a big difference between dirty hits that happen as part of the action of the game, and some completely separate action like Garrett and McSorley. This isn't being a second late or lowering your helmet a little too much on a hit. It's beating a guy over the head with his own helmet!

True. This could have been much worse if Rudolph got hit with any other part of the helmet his head would have been split open, and probably knocked out. Also the way he picked him up by the face mask could have paralyzed him. All of it was totally uncalled for especially when winning by 2 tds with 8 seconds left.
