Quillz Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 What are some teams that emphasis one color at home and a different color on the road? For example, for a time, the Red Sox used to have red at home, but road jerseys that emphasized blue more. I believe the New York Giants are similar, wearing blue at home but having road jerseys with a lot more red.

spartacat_12 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 The Dallas Stars used to wear black & gold at home, but green, gold, and black on the road. Also, the Detroit Tigers use orange on the road, but are strictly navy & white at home.

Wade Heidt Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 BC Lions 2016 to 2018. Orange and black at home Orange and white on the road
Wade Heidt Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Phoenix Suns a few years back. Purple road uniforms. No purple in the white home uniforms. White with orange and black trim.

4_tattoos Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 This may not count since the Premier Lacrosse League doesn't have home cities from it's teams, but the Redwoods Lacrosse Club has a set of green uniforms and a set of white & maroon uniforms. Hotter Than July > Thriller
BigEd76 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 80s/90s Sixers emphasized blue at home, red on the road

Discrim Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Blackhawks...their colored jerseys are red, but their whites emphasize black more 90s Patriots...homes were blue, roads had red numbers Broncos for most of their history...homes are orange, roads emphasize blue Houston Oilers, for their first handful of seasons, emphasized red on their whites, presumably b/c Columbia blue numbers might have been hard to discern on black & white tv. Chargers, starting this year, will be powder blue at home, but emphasize navy on the road A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull
Quillz Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 As a follow-up, do you like when teams do this? I kind of do, especially if a team goes to the extreme and the home color never interacts with the road color. (For example, a team with red and green being red-and-white at home and green-and-white on the road).

True, but with most soccer teams they don't really have a 'home' and 'road' kit, it's more a case of a 'primary' kit and a 'clash' kit. Most soccer teams will wear their primary uniform on the road as long as it doesn't clash with what the home team is wearing. Even then, they may just change shorts and/or socks and still wear the primary shirt if that provides sufficient contrast with the home team.
chcarlson23 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I would say that there’s a difference between a different emphasis on the home and roads, vs completely adding a different color. The Detroit Tigers are an example of a different color with the home and road. Teams like the Blackhawks adding more emphasis on the color black than at home, is just because of the color balance. Most teams wear identical colors on the home and road... A couple of teams that do have separate colors are both the Minnesota Twins and Wild. The Twins add gold and the Wild have cream at home. (The gold for the Twins sucks tho...) "And those who know Your Name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." Psalms 9:10
MattMill Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Can we lump in the current NBA? 90% of the NBA who now have third and fourth alternates 'we'll wear once' but end up wearing 35% of the time. Identities are muddled. Black trim on Lakers jerseys come to mind. Knicks had a jersey that emphasized Navy. The list goes On and on. I'm trying not to lump in their 'classics' because those are obviously retros. But maybe your statements. The twolves never wore their lime away from home. And the heat never wore their vice set away from home. So for some, a huge lime emphasis was not even shown for away crowds. And the teal/pink stayed at home for Miami. It's all a mess to be honest. The NBA is ruined.
