hettinger_rl 1,423 Posted September 4, 2019 I've done many "Vintage Style College Mascots" and as the NFL season gets started I was thinking of what their logos/mascots might look like if they had been created in the style of Arthur Evans. I don't plan on directly using any mascot/logo looks (college or NFL) that are already out there (example: using Pistol Pete for the Dallas Cowboys). However, I may take inspiration from bits or pieces of them. Over the next few weeks/months I'll be adding my newest iterations, please let me know what you think with your comments and/or likes. RichO 548 Posted September 4, 2019 This is a promising start. Really hits all the elements. The forward hat, the exaggerated chin sticking out, the brow. Really gets the feel of those old style mascot logos.
hettinger_rl 1,423 Posted September 10, 2019 Next up the Dallas Cowboys: Not sure if the Navy or Royal works better here.
hettinger_rl 1,423 Posted September 10, 2019 One more today; Packers I know that the "Cheese Head" hat wasn't around at that time but......
BigRed618 787 Posted September 10, 2019 For the Packers, how about a something like a butcher? Remember the team was named after a meat packing company.
seasaltvanilla 927 Posted September 10, 2019 The shade of green makes the Packer look like he's a zombie.

I did work through something like that, but to get it to make some sense meant adding a lot of "extra" stuff. This way a viewer just sees the cheese head and connects to Packers. Here are Chicago and Carolina: They are just re-purposed from some of my other concepts.
B-Rich 1,218 Posted September 11, 2019 All GREAT stuff, but I'm with Big Red; Packers should probably be more of a butcher/meat packer. And without the almost hipster-looking long hair and beard; this is a franchise going back to the 1920s; I think a facial look more in tune with those times would be more on-point.
Section30 1,631 Posted September 11, 2019 These are all great, I would suggest switching the black and grey on Carolina's though
neo_prankster 3,393 Posted September 11, 2019 @hettinger_rl I don't know if you remember the NFL Huddles mascots from the mid 80's, but the Packers' Huddle guy had an apron and some drawings had him carrying a string of sausage, subtly referencing the meat packing roots of the name.
neo_prankster 3,393 Posted September 11, 2019 The images for Carolina and Chicago are broken.

AHcreative 505 Posted September 12, 2019 Oh yes. These, these are great. I love the exaggerated facial features of the Vikings and Cowboys. I like the royal better for the Cowboys, it pops more and makes it look more "vintage."

Up next is the first full-body mascot in the group, because the head alone would look quite odd. Miami Dolphins:
