Sports Ambigrams

I've been passionate about typography for most of my life and one of my first dabbles into graphic design was to make ambigrams.  So, imagine my surprise when Chris retweets an Eagles ambigram.  As a result, I figured it would be nice to revisit where it all started and make some good ol fashioned sports ambigrams.  Since football is mostly on my mind, I might do NFL team slogan ambigrams, but if there are any requests, I'm sure I could give some a try.

Of course, we start with the greatest story in professional sports (not biased at all):

I’m sorry but while I do see Go Pack Go I also see 69 Pad 69.... I like the idea though! It’ll be interesting to see what ideas you come up with for other teams

Yeah, that's the thing with ambigrams, is that you have to force perceptive and a good ambigram is like 60% legible.  I could try spacing the p/ck out a bit more and maybe adjust the G/O a bit more.  69 Pad 69 is pretty funny though

I’d say the biggest problem is being unable to see the K, that’s definitely the hardest letter to make out, it looks like just a d with a lightning bolt next to it

That's fair, I'm trying to find that medium between >Pack and *bolt*Pad*bolt* to make it obvious that it's only part of the k.

Ha. I read that as Bear Lover. hahahahaha

Welp, that's the thing with ambigrams, everyone will read them differently haha.  I'm glad the "Bear" was obvious though; I was worried about the "R."

I like ambigrams, but part of making good ambigrams is knowing when to admit they just won't work.

Well, I'm of the mindset of trying every manipulation of letters to come close instead of giving up.  I'd rather come close than not at all.

Sure, Bear Down isn't the prettiest, but it comes close, and that's what I'll be doing here.  Coming close if there's complex letter combinations, or making it nice if there's more straight forward letter combinations.

As much as it humors me when I unintentionally make a funny phrase, I appreciate the suggestions @BellaSpurs has made for Go Pack Go to help improve moreso than telling me how off I got it.

I'll go back to the drawing board for some letter combos to make Bear Down a bit better, but I guarantee some of these are gonna be rougher than others.

Ambigrams are really cool but are tough to work out.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see '69' in the Packers version. At first I thought maybe I was just spending too much time on reddit. Haha. I do like the latest update for Green Bay. "Pack" is much easier to read. "Go" still looks like 69 to me, albeit less than in the first ambigram.

I also read "Bear Down" as "Bear Lover." I see what you're going for now that I know what it's intended to say, but it is pretty abstract.

I wish I could offer some suggestions but unless I were to sketch them out myself and try to make changes, I wouldn't exactly know how to convey that information. Keep at it, though! It's a really unique idea.
