Sport
I'm not a huge fan of Torts outside of what he can do for my favorite professional hockey team, but the job he did on Cooper in the playoffs was eye-opening. One of the most thorough and devastating takedowns of coach-on-coach crime I've ever seen. Jon Cooper got manhandled in every facet of hockey coaching in that series and he looked like he knew it when they shook hands after Game 4. I got the sense that if the two guys flipped rosters Cooper's Blue Jackets would've been swept by Tortorella's Lightning.
The_Admiral
Congratulations to Jarome Iginla and Marian Hossa, two of the best who ever played the game, and to Doug Wilson, who was also pretty good for a long time. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

AustinFromBoston
All me to congratulate Jarome Iginla by saying he would have had his name on the cup if he joined the Bruins in 2013(yes he joined the following year, but still). No, I'm not salty at all. But in all seriousness I am happy for him, I enjoyed watching him in Calgary. Always hoped he could have been at least like Ray Bourque and win a cup with another team. The_Admiral
Mystery team wins No. 1 draft pick in 2020 lottery Maximum chaos! A mystery team has just won the first-overall pick — and the right to select Alexis Lafreniere — in the 2020 NHL Draft. The L.A. Kings will select No. 2 overall. Davey
This was a very interesting draft lottery. I'd imagine a team stacked with talent, gets the 1st overall. This would make a great sitcom.
Seadragon76
So... a team in the Qualifying Round has the number 1 pick. NHL, how in the hell do you botch a draft lottery like that?!?

AnPheitseog
Ottawa, with two picks, had a combined 25% chance of getting the first overall. They didnt. The playin teams had a combined 24.5% chance of getting the first overall, and they did. Formerly known as DiePerske

Lights Out
Only Bettman could do a draft lottery and still have no idea who's getting the #1 pick by the end of the night. Unreal. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
monkeypower
Remind me again why the play-in teams were involved in this? (I actually don’t know if I know the reasoning)

(I actually don’t know if I know the reasoning) I imagine it's because they're considering the play-in basically like a form of the regular season, and thus the teams eliminated from the play-in would be considered non-playoff teams and become eligible for the lottery. Around the Horn
I found the video of the lottery to be highly entertaining if only because Bettman is holding up today's New York Times at the beginning to prove it's not rigged in advance before going into a long spiel about how it all works. See Red
Is there a reason they couldn't just wait to do this until they knew who the eight teams were?
