Good :censored:ing riddance to both Marleau and Thornton. Kick rocks, and stay gone this time.

They only got rid of Marleau. I guess Jumbo Joe deserves to rot in the pit of mediocrity he perpetuated until he mercifully retires in a few months. The Dallas Stars (team most interested in Joe) are better off without him hurting their channces.

Yknow when I first saw this quote, I was annoyed and was thinking, "yea, I'm gonna give this jerk a piece of my mind."

And then I got to the post and saw who it was and just had to roll my eyes and smile.

I get some disdain for players like Thornton (good ol' Admiral comes to mind) but Marleau and Thornton did put in many years of solid performance in San Jose to make them a competitive team during the late '00s and 2010s. It's a shame the choker label will likely follow them because if you told any sports fan that your franchise would make the final four in the sport four times in a decade span, they would take that every day and thrice on Sunday. Fortunately, Wilson seems to be leaning more into youth at this point and with Goodrow and Dillon gone, hopefully the Sharks can start to rebuild developmental a bit so they can come back into the fold around 2022 or 2023.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Thornton is an absolute anchor at this point, and if we’re being completely honest, has been one mentally for close to a decade now (really, his entire career, if we want to go that far). He has earned every single ounce of that “choking dog” label.

At at least Marleau had the good sense enough to voluntarily leave at one point.

I say this as a Sharks fan who actually has no real animosity against the guy in a personal sense.

But, yeah. Get :censored:ing lost, Jumbo.

No kidding. He's the Kershaw of the NHL, except things were way more in Joe's control.

Same. I do this stuff jokingly and I'd love to chat with the guy. It's ribbing, much like how I ribbed just about every Bobby Evans overpay. I have nothing against Mark Melancon, just Melancon's awful contract that the Braves stupidly took on in full. Dummies.

Let us never forget to mention the national holiday of Bobby Bonilla Day. 😛

Well, that was a smart deal. I don't see the problem of it.

Besides, the Braves are still paying Bruce Sutter, who last played in 1989. There's less money involved, but still, almost as long a deal!

Shocked nobody talked about the Isles picking up Pageau. It seems like a really good pickup. The Isles need scoring, and Pageau is having his best year in that regard. He also fills in the 2/3 center role the Isles need, and will fit in nicely with Trotz' style of play. I've seen people bashing the Isles for giving up too much, but they can afford a 1st, 2nd, and conditional 3rd. The Isles' prospect pool is deep, and chances are they're gonna be middle-of-the-pack anyways. I doubt the picks will turn into anything. I think this was a smart move by Lou.

Plus, the Isles already extended his contract. Not bad.

The Leafs lose to a 42 year old zamboni driver but outscore the +50 Lightning.

Hopefully that lose to the Redneck Rangers was the kick in the :censored: they needed. This team's too talented to be clinging to a playoff spot like they are.

Bruins really squandered an opportunity these past 2 games to take a solid lead in Home Ice & President’s Trophy race, With Tampa having lost 3 straight now.

You don't want the President's Trophy. Tank the rest of the way. You'll still make the playoffs and be better off for it 😛

It would have been a damn good story for Jumbo Joe to be traded back to his own team & finally win a Cup with them.

Yeah, but the Leafs weren't interested.

On one hand, The President's trophy has been cursed for almost a decade now. But on the other hand, someone has to break that curse.

And Boston teams are pretty good at breaking curses.

The Red Sox broke one curse. Let's not make this another "thing" Boston fans won't shut up about.

The Habs are 0-4 against the last place Detroit Red Wings, but win meaningless games against contenders like the Washington Capitals.

They regularly finish 9th in their conference. They lose at winning, lose at losing, and can't break either habit. #NoMansLand
