That's what you (rightfully) get when you rest players. EDIT: And use that much unjustified black in your identity. 10 hours ago, DG_Now said: Melo to the Blazers! Likely reasoning: it can't get any worse than it's been! Nets could've used him too. I wonder why they weren't the ones to sign him after the off-season talk of him practising with them. Regardless, I wanna see him succeed with the Blazers. 9 hours ago, dfwabel said: Knicks beat Prozingas in his return. Fizdale stays...for the weekend. Maybe Kyrie was the problem after all. Mmmhmm. Besides not being a level-10 locker room cancer, Kemba fits in perfectly on offense because he's the right level for this team -- he doesn't attract all the attention of the opposing defense like Kyrie did, but when things do get dicey he doesn't lapse into heroball and brings in his (actually quite good) teammates. Real bummer about Hayward right when he was starting to look like Utah Hayward. That defense is gonna catch up with them, though, when they have tougher stretches of schedule.

DG_ThenNowForever 15,388 Posted November 19, 2019 I watched last night's Clips/Thunder game until my stream froze with 20 seconds to go. Apparently, the refs took away an opportunity for the Thunder to shoot free throws. That stinks. Chris Paul was sonning Paul George into the final minutes up until he PG hit that 3-pointer. Seems like a game OKC should have won but weren't allowed to. I've also read that ratings are down in most markets because the NBA has focused so much attention on the LA teams. Taking wins away from smaller markets will do that. Also, I have a personal bias against the Clippers. Sue me.

The league and its officials need to get out of their own way, or else we may reach a breaking point. Maybe not in the next 1-2 years, maybe not in the next 10, but someday. (Of course, I feel that this poor officiating and the possible executive meddling that drives it is the general trend of pretty much all top-level pro sports; the NBA’s just ahead of the curve).
the admiral 28,239 Posted November 20, 2019 The NBA has been able to cover for a multitude of sins for a few years now, greatly assisted by a media class that is emotionally invested in the NBA's value as a cultural signifier. That it took this long for a heavily devalued regular season, defanged analytics-based gameplay, and five-sixths of the league being irrelevant (from New York and Chicago at the top to Sacramento and Memphis at the bottom) to finally crater the television audience is pretty impressive, all things considered. A pitcher scratches his ass and you'd think it spells the end of baseball.

I like basketball and like to watch it as much as possible. Other people like basketball too and are willing to pay to watch it in person or on TV. There's a willing market for NBA basketball to last from October to June and so it does.

The Bulls allegedly put 20,000 people in the building every night for a team that has no greater aspirations than to look like it's trying hard -- I don't mean in the sense of appearing to make constructive moves but literally huffing and puffing and making constipated faces. They charge a lot for the privilege of watching that crap. Imagine what it would have to cost if you tweaked the supply/demand curves and lopped 15 dates off the schedule; it would be an even richer crowd than it already is.

Pro sports in this country in general seems to be headed for a major bubble burst. You have more entertainment options, cable dying off and increasing apathy among the general public towards sports. A choice like that is probably going to be made for these leagues based on market factors alone.
FiddySicks 11,048 Posted November 21, 2019 Hi everyone, it’s Bucfan. I’m just here for your regular reminder of how goddamn stupid the Kings are for passing up Luka. The only solace the four Kings fans in existence can take in them not drafting him is that they would’ve just ruined his career, anyway.

FiddySicks 11,048 Posted November 21, 2019 I know you give me sometimes for the way I’m a fan, but there is absolutely NO CHANCE I could root for that clown ass organization. It’s amazing how much of a tire fire they are. They’re such a worthless organization. Luka was the right choice for them in that draft, and every :censored:ing person outside of their front office knew it. It’s astounding how easy of a choice that was and they STILL made the wrong pick. If there was any way we could’ve gotten the arena downtown and just used it for concerts, the rodeo, and, like, monster trucks and :censored:, it would’ve been so worth it to just kick that team out of town. They’re the ultimate waste of resources.
