Couldn't resistA couple of cities come to mind: Santa Rosa or SalinasIt's not THAT far fetched. Still there's actually no reason the San Jose Giants have to move anywhere. Wolff has said he won't force them out and unless he does they're not obligated to move.

Critical Thinker
I remember seeing sketches and computer models for a new A's ballpark (though I can't remember where they planned on putting it- I think they left it in Oakland) called Cisco Park. They looked like pretty complete renderings from an architecture firm that designed a whole ballpark. They had even designed it to fit in with a downtown district, with a street beyond the outfield wall that closed on gameday. It looked pretty cool, and wasn't even remotely comparable to the crappy football field they play on now. What a waste.

They put it in San Jose, and it is a widely known concept that didn't happen because territorial rights.
the admiral
No, it was going to be in Fremont, which was as close to San Jose as they could build. This is great news. The Oakland Coliseum is one of my favorite ballparks for the way it deviates from the postage stamps of foul ground most parks have now. I like when parks really change the game. And Oakland gave us Tower of Power, Why?, and ghost-riding the whip. Viva Oakland.

dfwabel
Ah the good 'ol daysAnd full of steroids. If approved by both the city and county, which it still needs to be, this extension is pretty much symbolic.

the admiral
Maybe the Raiders can move to Alameda. Or not. I just want to post one of the best Elliott Smith songs ever.
Sodboy13
So maybe they'll do something about all that raw sewage now? And no, I don't mean Raiders fans.

The Oakland Hills...which turn GAP khaki in early April. Heck, they are a fire alert now. To All: While Lew Wolff is the voice of the A's, John Fisher is the $$$ behind the team and majority owner. The same thing goes with another Coliseum Complex team, the Golden State Warriors...Joe Lacob is the voice...Peter Guber is the $$$.
Gothamite
No. No. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'm not even an A's fan. Noooooooooooo. How could they do such a dreadful thing?1. They don't have much choice. The only other option they want is San Jose, which they can't have. 2. The extension reportedly contains a clause allowing them to leave early if they can secure a new ballpark elsewhere, so why not sign it? Selig likes it, but the Oakland City Council has been pro-Raider in the past. Just see what JPA co-chair, Larry Reid said:"We were all surprised to read the comments made by Mr. Wolff and certainly by Commissioner Selig because we're still in negotiations with the A's," Reid said. "We were waiting to see how that meeting went tomorrow. We want to make sure we do everything we can to keep the A's within the city, but it's got to be a lease agreement that's in the best interest of both the residents of Alameda County and certainly the residents of the city of Oakland."Fans should not exhale just yet, but you know, we're getting close," he added. There will be a Raider group and an A's Group at every city and county meeting to talk about the lease(s). This is far from over since both Oakland, Alameda County, and even San Jose* really don't have $$$ or bonds to build a new stadium. *-Those who think San Jose has cash happy to build Cisco Field...you are wrong. :censored:, SJ has been under staffed for police and fire since 2005. Partly because of pensions.
