Did they make mention of the change, or was it done silently? I recall it being pointed out on these forums, but I don't remember if someone just noticed the change by chance or not.

There was a Detroit sports media tigers luncheon in mid January 2018. Soon after, it was announced on the tigers social media page.

So far no official mention for the new changes. I'm guessing by March well hear something official

Ah, that was the issue. They shouldn't have mentioned it at all. Then a lot less people probably would have noticed.

Went to the Braves clubhouse store and they said they’re anticipating the spring training caps mid February. I also saw the new jerseys in person for the first time and I still really likely them. Will likely buy one or two online (the clubhouse shop was badly upcharged).

I think more people had issues with the Jersey 'D' changing. The larger cap logo was more of an add-on they thought they could get away with.

Living in Michigan, it's quite the opposite in my experience. The enlarged "D" was extremely noticeable on the hats and drew significant outcry. There is a contingent that dislikes the jersey change as well, but it's not nearly as vociferous.

I agree 100% The hat D was not well received here in Motown/S.E. Michigan. There is some dislike with the matched jersey D, but most people didn't know it was different in the first place.

All the spring training caps and jerseys are now up on MLB Shop. Seems like most of the new cap designs were the ones already released/leaked (Nats, Marlins, A's)... the rest look to be the same designs as last year just with the new material. The Reds do have a new cap with the colors reversed. Jerseys all seem the same too.

St Patrick's on Fanatics right now too. Basically a mirror of the ST caps. Same materials and designs for most part.

With the price increase, unless your team had a drastic change, you might as well buy last year's for $10 or search for pre 2017 on sale.

Lids has a bunch posted

https://www.lids.com/search/2019 mlb batting practice 59fifty/men/59fifty

Just scanning the list, I see:

- Brewers have three caps now (Miller navy, BiG navy, BiG royal)

- Tigers have four (home and road with the tiger, and home and road with the D)

- Washington we saw already

- Miami we saw already

- Braves have two (tomahawk and lower case A)

- Mariners new one

- Oakland new one

- Orioles might be new with the swinging bird on the hat

- NYY away hat seems to have a heathered charcoal visor

- SF has a gray away SF hat

Looks like the Reds are using the old English C on the jersey this spring which is also new

Why do the Tigers need four spring training caps? That's insane.

This is one of the things that annoys me about these caps. Some teams have up to FOUR, and some teams only have one. Why? Who makes these decisions? It all seems so arbitrary.

The the thing that annoys me the most though are the Giants caps. They’re both so ugly. It would be so simple for them to just use the old lowercase g logo, yet the insist on using an orange and grey crowned cap with the SF outlined in cream. What an ass look that is.

It's even worse when you realize they only wear one of them, sometimes they'll wear a second one but they've almost never worn the one with the tiger on it. The Rays have three but at least they manage to wear all three at some point.

I've gotta say, that Marlin's hat is beautiful. The Marlins new identity has really grown on me. I got a chance to see the primary cap in person, but I didn't love it as much. I think if they pushed the red a few more shades toward pink would help a ton, possibly even the blue a few more shades towards teal but that may not be necessary. And they definitely need to fill in the M with some black thread, the logo seems lacking with using the cap material itself as a part of the logo.
