The_Admiral
You should have been able to eyeball a white jersey with white numbers and say "no, this won't work." ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

MattMill
Wow. Just saw black team vs white team highlights. OMG. SO ILLEGIBLE. How can this happen? Highlights were of the Cubs and nationals. The nationals looked like the marlins out there lol. Cubs wore their normal blue caps. Odd stuff. Right as WC heats up, they pull this crap

I think this is one of those cases where you don't know HOW bad it is until you see them in action. No we knew how bad it would be the second we saw the jerseys. Unless you mean it’s even worse than you thought it was going to be then yea but that’s only if you didn’t think it was going to be hot garbage. It really does feel like the entire sport has fallen off a cliff since Selig left. No credit to Selig because he was mostly trash too, and some of that may be a coincidence and it was probably teetering on the edge for years before it finally slipped off, but there's gotta be some connection here. #IMissBudSelig. #NoSeriously. New Era was pushing for years to put their logo on the side of caps. As soon as Bud isn't there to stop them, we get New Era logos on the sides of caps. Bud took a lot of :censored:, some of it justified, but he also deserves some credit. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. MattMill
Looking at Twitter, from veteran columnists to players to regular fans, this weekend is an absolute joke. But it's getting talked about, right? Sadness at dodger stadium Players sort of seem to like it
tp49
I've seen a couple of different broadcasts today and on all of them the announcers were openly questioning the uniforms. To this all I can say is too bad every team doesn't have a Chris Sale today.
SFGiants58
Can the players just strike already? This crap should get the MLBPA head fired (as I think "Players' Weekend" was part of the latest CBA). Instead of gimmick weekends, why not try to work for a better working environment and more security of employment? Free agency is a dumpster fire, there's service time manipulation left and right, top tier starters and relievers were free agents into the month of June, but hey, we have funky jerseys with nicknames on the back! SilverBullet1929
Don't the players have to approve this? Wasn't "ways to express themselves" something they were asking for such as less regulations on cleats designs and other accessories such as the neon volt arm sleeves and the ones with country flags? Just saying because some are making it sound like we should feel bad for the players wearing this but I think the origins of this might be partly their fault. zigbazah
The Royals are all wearing white shoes, from what I can tell. Literally no color whatsoever.
14er
The Reds wear matching white helmets for this one-off event but can’t even bother to match their normal road helmet with their road cap. Makes sense.
SilverBullet1929
I've looked at several clips from different games and, just as I figured, the gimmick of monochromatic jerseys allowing the colored accessories to stand out more is absolutely not happening. The caps, jerseys and pants make up such a huge portion of the uniform that the gloves and cleats get totally lost. Aquino on the Reds just looks like a snowman who happens to be wearing red gloves, it's not like "OMG THOSE GLOVES ARE SO AMAZING!!" Now that I mention Aquino in red gloves I'm also noticing how many players don't have anything special except for the cleats so it's even worse since many aren't playing along. None of this crap works. And I'm not buying that they had to see this to believe it wasn't gonna work. The idea was stupid from the start. If anything, seeing it in action would or should have made us say it was better than expected but not worse.
SilverBullet1929
After three years of this I see there's only two aspects with potential that can be done with dignity and respect to the team uniforms and still play the marketing towards youth aspect: nicknames and cleats. I would be happy with Players Weekend just being nicknames on regular jerseys along with the crazy cleats designs. I was gonna say you could include batting gloves and arm sleeves but most players already wear those very colorful and customized so whatever. Make a story of the nicknames and zoom in on the cleats and call it a day. Also in this manner you'd be targeting kids and still showing off the great uniforms. Like "hey Aaron Judge has awesome cleats and man that Yankee jersey is sweet too"

FiddySicks
I feel like this is a similar scenario to when my mom used to ask me to vacuum as a kid. I always made sure to do such an abysmal job, that she would never dare to ask me to vacuum again. Its almost like the heads at MLB secretly don’t really like the “Players Weekend” stuff, so they did such an abysmal job of it nobody will ever ask them to do that again.
