Even on the roads, that's too much red. The Cubs should always be heavy on royal blue. Yeah, "somehow Chicago" is how I feel about the Cubs' old use of slab-serif, too: It reminds me of signage and design that lingered into the early-'90s Chicagoland of my youth, I guess. A year or two ago I noticed a building across from Ogilvie Station had its address written in the Cubs' numbers. Even the numbers are an improvement: simple, elegant, yet distinctive. Even their road jerseys were better. I really hate the sort-of-arced-sort-of-arched "CHICAGO" mark they use today. Add red red outlines to the home numbers and a different bear patch and there you go! Look how beautiful that number font is without any outlines. I know the phrase "pops" is frowned upon but it really describes the royal blue in those photos. The current road wordmark is atrocious. Royal blue crown/red bill would be good for the Rangers, but not the Cubs. Teams should only have one hat. I think it’s not only great, but it’s also the best logo the team has ever had by a WIDE margin. Some of those bear over a C logos they’ve had over the years are TRASH.
