SFGiants58
Part of me wouldn’t mind Cleveland dropping the “Indians” script from their home uniform in favor of the “Cleveland” block wordmark. It doesn’t work well for the Texas Rangers, but it’d be effective for Cleveland (emphasizing city over controversial nickname/downplaying the nickname as much as possible). Dumping the navy jerseys would also be a good idea, if only because they’re associated with the team’s numerous choke jobs in the playoffs (the nineties teams, 2016, and 2017). I’d prefer a red jersey for them, with the city wordmark. MLB: Project 32 (Complete), MLB: The Defunct Saga (Complete)

I wouldn’t want it on the sleeves, but if they need something for the occasional newspaper ad or charity sponsorship announcement it’s fine. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! The script Indians is gorgeous and maybe the last unique and cool element left in their identity. Switching to block Cleveland on the home AND roads along with just the block C caps would be terrible.

It’s a way to ease the transition away from the name and to brainstorm an appropriate replacement/focus group several options (logo variants/color scheme changes or redistribution/etc.). Denver_The_Sinaloa
Why don’t the Indians just pull a 1997 All Star Game logo and use their wordmark as their primary logo? It was even on their TATC jerseys

FiddySicks
If the Indians were smart (I don’t think they are), they would take this as an opportunity to ditch everything and start over. Their color palate is miserably over saturated, their name is hokey at best, offensive at worst, and their extended history, while lengthy, isn’t prestigious enough to make it a huge loss to anyone. Cleveland Spiders/Spinners/Something new/ect FTW. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Cleveland Spiders/Spinners/Something new/ect FTW. Again, I'm in favor of a name change, but it's really easy to say that it wouldn't be a huge loss to anyone when you aren't a fan of that team. Spiders just doesn't work for me, not sure how Indians comes off hokey while Spiders passes the smell test. I've seen solid logo concepts but as a name I don't love it. BUT, I do essentially agree that they should just move forward. My hope is that they'd either try to keep a jersey set that provides continuity between identities while changing names/logos OR they go completely different and try to go for a color scheme that is unique both in MLB and the city of Cleveland (none of that "Baseball Browns" crap). I hope they're considered as part of a long overdue rebrand. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing this, but I'm guessing because of the association with Miller, the current script M isn't going anywhere no matter what they do. Bucs007
As shocking as this may seem, next year marks 25 years since MLB celebrated 125 years with jersey patches and those nifty hat pins. Anyone think they'll do the same for 150 next year or worry that the anniversary patches are cursed (thanks to the '94 strike)?

That resemblance is way overblown. I don't think it was intended, nor do I think it's compelling. I really don’t think that the Brewers would keep a logo around just to appease one of their sponsors. It's not as though a Miller owns the club. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
