Is that a powder blue jersey hanging in the locker? Says Milwaukee on it, so maybe another road alternate? Or is it just the regular gray one? Hard to tell with the lighting.spacer.png

THESE. UNIFORMS. ARE. FUGGIN. FRESH!

The first thing I thought of with the Milwaukee script was Milwaukee Tools. I had to look up theirs logo since I wasn’t very familiar with it. Both scripts don’t have loops on the l and k. And both have two flat portions on the tops on the e’s. I realize there are many differences, but I can see now why I thought of Milwaukee Tools right away.

I, too, often think of Milwaukee tools when Ryan Braun appears on my TV screen.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

If you think THAT reminds you of the Milwaukee Tools font, then I present to you the Milwaukee Bucks City edition jersey.

If you honestly think that, then this really might not be the place for you.  Details are important here.  Hell, details are all we talk about here.

It's not so much the details. It's the fact people are crapping on a beautiful uniform because one little thing doesn't fit their personal preference. It's ok because we're all entitled to our opinions. But c'mon. If anyone really thinks this is a bad uniform set, you're just a hard person to please

L10 pretty much summed it up.  I said specifically NPFNPS because a lot of people make the Patch for Patch sake reference or whatever, as in its there just because and doesnt add to the aesthetic in any way.  Usually the only times you see thick piping is on pullover jerseys, but thats because you can have a think piping collar to match that would add to the look of the jersey.  With buttondown jerseys though, you cant have thick piping because of the buttons, it just wouldnt look right and probably wouldnt fit well either.  Also, I would like to add that the White Sox have thick piping without collar piping and theirs looks great.  As do the Phillies, Pirates, and Yankees.

I just think you misinterpreted the point i was trying to make.  Details are super important, but in this specific case I think a lot are criticizing things about the jersey based solely on a personal idea, when in reality the jersey as it is currently looks great and (more importantly) falls in line with other modern baseball jersey designs.

Well, a lot of what we write is about personal opinion.

But I laid out at least one point where the new Brewers design is objectively bad - the off-center jersey wordmark created by the serifed font.  That’s not defensible under any objective standard, it can only be handwaved away if you like the design overall.

I nominate this for post of the day.

Yes it would be.

But they won’t look like that.  The Brewers will have the same overly-designed, too-busy stance socks that teams now wear.

yeah and some of the players will wear them and some won't. MLB needs to crack down on sock uniformity among players on the same team. It's getting ridiculous.

This kind of makes me wonder what the Brewers would look like in a cream, forest green and royal blue scheme, iincorporating elements of their current look, their BiG era blue and their mid-90s "Motre Bame" era green.

Cream/green/blue looks so much better with no black involved.  I wish the Bucks would take advantage of that across their entire brand.

I agree about the off-center wordmark, but id also add that most MLB teams have jersey wordmarks that are off-center.

The thing about the off-centered wordmark is... who would actually notice it if they didn't read Gothamite's post about it?

You give me too much power, sir.  :)

Yes, it's subtle.  But it's also objectively bad design.  There's no reason for the W to have those ridiculous serifs that push the wordmark off-center.  Especially since the design it's aping fit so well on the jerseys; the W was the width of the placket itself, centering the wordmark perfectly.

And yeah, some of the flaws in this set are subtle flaws.  But that doesn't make them any less flaws, and the cry of "Nerrrrrrrrrrds!" on a site devoted precisely to such minute detail is as depressing as it is predictable.

I like the dark blue and yellow.

I think I have drifted from "vivid colors" to "one vivid color."  For example, I don't like the A's with kelly green...I liked the sound of it, but didn't like it when I saw it...I like the forest and yellow.  I think royal and yellow would have worked here but the change from gold to yellow is really the key in the departure from "drab."

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Some of the "flaws" are just personal preferences though. Like others have mentioned, one might consider thick sleeve piping and no collar piping a "flaw" while someone else might consider it perfectly fine or even preferred.

I'm just here wondering what the socks will look like. My hope is some what like the old AA Brewers.

I think it would be a nice call back.

I think we've seen what seem like the default socks on a picture somewhere. The player was sitting down with socks having the same pattern as all the promo stuff they posted :

Some are indeed personal preferences.  Others are objective.

But criticizing people for noticing the details or caring about them?  That’s... an interesting look.

Everyone here cares about the details, though.
